  • I fell off the wagon...Do I Start Over...

I started the induction phase on Tuesday and was doing very well until a bunch of us went bowling afterwork on Friday and our supervisor purchased pizza and beer at the bowling alley. Lucky for me I dont like beer or else I would've been in real trouble. BUT...I did have ONE slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza...And although I was tempted to partake in Mrs. Fields and Pretzel Time on my way to the train station I didnt. Do I need to or should I start over or can I just continue on. Today was a good day...

Yea phase 1 intuction is very strict on the amount of carbs you can intake. Unfortunetly pizza and beer have alot of carbs. Since you weren't on for very long it probably through you completely off, so your best bet would be to go through your inductino phase again.

I cant recall what my carb limit is for the day (if its 20 or 21) but using fitday website to keep track of what I eat each day, Friday put me at 20 carbs on the mark..even with pizza.

That's assuming that you've got correct amounts and ingredients for the pizza you ate.

Even so, only 5 days in, I'd start counting today as day 1 again. This is about learning NEW habits and self discipline. It's not a punishment, but more of an opportunity for you to go, "oops...try again and this time I'm gonna get the FULL 14 days knocked out!"

If that feels more like a punishment to you, then keep on keeping on and see where you're at at the end of your 14 days. You might just find you want to be able to say, "Hey, I did my 14 days and I didn't slip once!".

well it seems you missed the posts about throwing that nasty disposable plate (that would be the crust) they serve those pizzas on in the trash.
Clean induction is important for getting your estimated CCLL and your metabolic resistance type but those numbers can't be gotten from do overs so yours on day 15 will be slightly off but you should be okay. Watch out for any cravings from your sauce.
You know your metal attitude and how you view what happened better then anybody here. If you are well I dodged a bullet and am fortunate to have not totaled my Atkins then you should be okay. BUT if you are hey that didn't mess me up eating that pizza last week, lets see what this ___________ (fill in your high carb food) does to me today then you need to adjust that attitude and doing a longer induction will help you get control espically if you are a carboholic.

It's really your choice. Some people start all over again. Some people just pick themselves up and keep going.

It kind of depends on the "degree" of cheating (yes, I know, cheating is cheating, but....) If you had, for example, had three slices of pizza, followed by chocolate cake and three beers, you might start over. One slice of pizza is......iffy. A lot of people would just get back on and go ahead.

The important thing here is that you DIDN'T go nuts over the carbs. That's pretty commendable! Congratulations!

I think it depends on if you are planning on doing just a 14 day induction because many of us go for much longer on induction, I plan to do it until I lose at least 30lbs, then move on to OWL when I have 20-40 more to lose. But, just stick with it! Keep your head up and do the right things and the weight will come off!!!

You know some of us start out right away, we hit the road running and never look back, but others sputter start and it takes awhile to get going. Thats fine, You did awesome to avoid the pretels etc.
Like 2big said, next time just don't eat the crust.
Or one thing that I found when I go out with the gals is to find out what they have that I can eat. Chicken wings, celery, ranch dressing. Hamburger without the buns, or go up and ask, what do you have for low carb diets. They want to sell you something so generally they will have something.
                Its all about being prepared.
