I got surprised by my TOM showing up a week early and really intense cravings and cramps, and I crashed and burned and gave in. a hamburger bun, 2 raisin bran muffins and a pizza later (over 2 days no less!) on top of getting a touch of heatstroke on saturday which caused me to eat a bunch of oranges and gatorade since that was all that was available at the time, I'm now 7 pounds up. waaaaahh! why do i do this to myself i am so mad! starting over again today. going to the gym right after work and gonna work out for an hour. I discovered that I can't be in the sun for very long before feeling crappy and when everyone else is not hot at all. My thyroid having issues plus losing weight apparently has borked up my body's ability to cool itself down, so i have to try to stay in the shade. it's not so bad when i'm in an airconditioned gym....

Re: crash and burn...again!
Alrighty........ it's obvious you feel bad about this disaster! Just pick yourself up by the bootstraps, dust yourself off and get back on the saddle.
You can do this. Your stats prove that you can! There are several of us on induction (again... me included). The support here is GREAT!!!
Besides, if ya mess up, Finelly will crack her whip on ya!

Re: crash and burn...again!
SOOO...three lashes with a fuzzy string for being human... and MUCHO congratualations on getting back up and going at it again!
Think NOT dying of heatstroke, dangerous stuff, is way more inmportant that not ingesting gatroade and oranges. In my non-medical opinion, of course, might want to check with a real doc and see what he has to say about the whole death or hospitalization thing.
Just my, hey gotta laugh, take...
Blessings to you!

Re: crash and burn...again!
Oooooooooooohhhhhhhkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy.
Let's start with the 7 lbs. It's not real. No way. Nope, uhuh. Water. Water, water, water. Gatorade makes you RETAIN WATER. It's FULL of all those salts and things for people so they don't get dehydrated. Pizza......full of sodium. Packed with it. You happened to binge on two things that will make you gain 5 lbs in water weight, easty.
Bran muffins? Not exactly Little Debbie Snack Cakes now, are they? MUCH less sugar. MUCH less refined everything.
Oranges? We're not talking banana split, either. BUT..both of them will make your bowels work, and that often also makes you retain water, as a protective measure!
Now, to the TOM. Most of us are smart enough by now on this woe to realize that we need to take pre-emptive measures to deal with those inevitable cravings. (I have induction-friendly custard ready, myself). But when it comes A WEEK EARLY, well, then, it's not exactly lack of thinking on your part!!!!!! All you can do is say things like "well, obviously, my period is slightly irregular these days, so I'll keep some clouds in the freezer in case it comes early again". And then curse a lot, and stamp your foot, and let steam come out of your ears.
So..........now what? You are doing exactly the right thing, of course. Get that body moving, stay cool. Drink a TON of water. Get yourself back into ketosis if you went out. And remind yourself constantly that a lot of this is water, and that during TOM you will lose that water naturally anyway.
There is not one single hurdle that we can't overcome together. We're with ya, Wolfie!!!!!!!!!!!Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

Re: crash and burn...again!
Well said everyone. I don't have much to add but my encouragement. Your stats do prove that you can do it. I never seem to get past 10 lbs without messing up. You can stop the downward cycle now before 7 lbs turns into 17. Plus, you might be surprised and the seven pounds is only temporary if you jump right back into it. You can do it!
149.8/no weigh/ 119

1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
what the rungs mean to me:
rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
rung 4 - berries, melon
rung 5 - wine -
rung 6 - beans, hummus
rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
(on to pre-maintenance)

Re: crash and burn...again!
The fact that you were smart enough to come back home here, fess up, and get right back on track is proof that you will succeed. I just gained 6 pounds of water in the past 2 days because of too much salt. Its frustrating but we KNOW its not real weight. It comes off fast if you drink drink drink that water!
