    Do you think it's a better idea to measure yourself rather than weighing?

    I was thinking about buying a measuring tape thingy at the dollar store or something.

    THe scale scares me.... I figure a measuring tape is much more friendly!!

    Measuring is going to be much more accurate of how you are progressing. When the scales dont show a loss usually you will find a loss of inches as your body shrinks. And as they all say.... its the inches you see falling off not the number on the scale.

    Also, if you are exercising you are building muscle and the inches will fall off but the scale may not be as kind as muscle weighs more than fat does.

    STAC has a measuring challenge every 2 weeks. We just began another one this week. Take your measurements, log them into Mybodycomp.com (a free site) and in 2 weeks when the challenge is over you can remeasure and see how you have done. Then log your inches lost into the sticky at the top of the forum and add the total inches lost for the group.

    Your measuring tape can be your best friend on the way down the scale!

        Yes, I have found the scale to be a very scary thing this time around. Go with the tape measure!

            So true, this past week, my scales showed a 6 pound gain (IMPOSSIBLE) what it really was...was water and sodium...too many pork rinds n cream cereal for me. Interestingly enough, it took all week to get rid of that 6 pounds of water, but my measuring tape showed inches lost! LOVE MY TAPE
