Natasha, just caught this post! Sorry I didnt respond sooner.

I'm doing okay. Struggling, but I keep picking myself up. I've gotten some great compliments this week from others, which is helping to get me back on track. I've had some issues that have kept me from exercising as much as I would like, but also getting back on track there. Most of this week I've kind of just lurked around here. Feeling down (but better today).

I have an interview in two weeks with a Judge. I'm a little nervous and anxious about this (more nervous and anxious about my current boss finding out). This may be adding to my stress level some. But very excited about the opportunity. Wish me luck!

Interview with what judge for what purpose? Job? What kind?

Finelly, here they call it a Clerk. When I worked in Ohio they were called Bailiffs. Not exactly sure what all will be involved other than assisting the Judge with the daily Court docket, handling orders, motions, etc, that come across from attorneys. The court is within 10 minutes of my house, I would get an hour and half lunch and be home to play with my little man by 4:45 p.m. Right now it takes me 45 minutes to get to work and I usually don't get home until 6pm. Love my current job, but the County benefits and the things I mentioned above are soooo worth a change. Plus, I'm pretty bored at work right now.

Hmmmm......all good points Finelly.

1. Have not found an interview outfit yet. I will go this weekend (having a hard time finding a nice, inexpensive business outfit).

2. I will get a writing sample. Had not thought of that yet. Thanks for reminding me.

3. I don't know anyone else at the Courthouse, with the exception that I do talk to the clerks often in my capacity as paralegal, so they will know who I am if asked. I actually trained the girl that is working for him now in the law field.

Sarah - take your time shopping. Find exactly the right thing. Doesn't have to be a business-suit type of thing.

Since you know some of the people in the courthouse through your work, see if you can take the time to tell them about your upcoming interview. Casually but ask their advice and tell them you really want the job. I don't know if you know them by phone or in person, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to sort of show up there and see each of them in person.

You wouldn't BELIEVE (or maybe you already do!) the gossip and chatter about people that goes on in the courthouses. If they like you and know you are trying to get a job there, they will mention it to the Court Administrator who is very close to the judge, and that will be a good added bonus for you.

Also, if you know any of the other judges, do the same. Or their secretaries. By the way, do you know THIS judge's secretary? She will be a key for you.

Sadly, I do not know the Judge's secretary. Just one of his clerks. I'm really trying to keep it quiet (avoid the gossip) so that my current boss does not find out. I am not actively pursuing employment, so if I don't get this job, I will happily stay put where I am. I don't want him to feel slighted if he finds out.

I'm trying to find an outfit a little on the conservative side. Navy, Gray or Black. The hard part is finding a plus size store. Keeping my fingers crossed.
