  • Trying again

I don't know if any of you remember, but I started Atkins in Jan of 2004. I lost 65 lbs. between Jan. and Oct. of 2004. Then I had some family stuff going on and lots of stress, so I plateued for a bit. Then I slowly slowly started falling off the wagon. By April of 2005 (when I got married) I wasn't anywhere near the wagon. I tried again in June of 2005 and fell off the wagon in July. I not only fell off the wagon, but I ate it. Since then my eating's been so out of control. I went from 250 to 185 and now I know I weigh at least 220. My hubby is going to take my weight today and write down for me until I'm ready to see it.

I've started a new job. I'm a second year teacher and I'm teaching autism this year. It is my dream job, but is definitely kinda stressful. A few weeks ago I also tried to kill myself because I couldn't handle my depression anymore. I am now on Zoloft and feeing much better.

I really want to do this. It's not just the weight, it's the way I feel. I loved the way my body felt when on Atkins. I wasn't hungry or tired all the time and I just felt very healthy. I desperately want to go back to this.

    My plan for this week:

Breakfast: 3 eggs and 2 slices of turkey bacon. Maybe a slice of cheese with it.

Lunch: I'm making tuna salad. This includes tuna, eggs, mayo, and relish. I will also add either a salad with it or some veggies with butter.

Dinner: I'm grilling lots of chicken today and I plan on making an eggplant caserole with it. The eggplant casserole has eggplant, tomatoe, and onion.

    Snacks: boiled eggs and cheese.

I plan on making at least on extra meal in case I get sick of any of the above.

Exercise: Curves my goal for now is 3X a week.

I really need support to stay on this plan. Especially during induction.

      Hi Amber

      Welcome to STAC!

Gaining that control was the hardest thing for me to do. There are still days that I struggle but with this forum I get what I need to be sure that this time I will succeed.

Spend some time reading thru old posts... there have been a lot in a very short amount of time on this new forum, but there is a great deal of information in them. And some good natured family fun too! Also read the threads at the top of the forum as they are the best of the best that STAC has to offer. Most of all... come and post. Post often. There is a daily check in thread that many of us find to be helpful. It makes you accountable and keeps you in check of what you are doing and why. ESPECIALLY during your induction. Share the journey with us. Begin a journal in the journal forum to write out what you are feeling and how you are working towards your goal may be of help to you as well.

I just rejoined Curves and am so glad I did.

You CAN do this. Do it with us here at STAC. We are family and family takes care of one another! <hug>

        Re: Trying again

Well, hi there and welcome back!

I'm also a special ed teacher. I teach E.D., but my husband works with kids with autism, so I know what you are talking about in terms of stress. Hopefully, you will be well into ketosis and full of energy by the time school starts!

You have found the right place to hang out. Come here every day, read every sticky, every post, let people know what you're up to, good, bad, beautiful, and ugly. Don't be afraid to "show your warts", because that sort of honesty about how things are going is actually what helps us stay on track.

Your menu looks good, though you will probably need some variety after a couple of weeks. You sound like me, though - find some foods that work for you and are appetizing, and stick with them. I get into "ruts" and eat the same thing for weeks until I'm sick of them. Then I find something else! It hasn't hurt me and actually means that I look forward to everything I eat.

Good for you re: the exercise. That will help with the depression, too. You might pick up some yoga or stretching tape and do that on alternate days - it's good for the soul and keeps you in touch with your body. Having said that, I'll tell you that I have several tapes, and don't use them, so ........lol

Let us know what kind of support you need! An email buddy? A private message buddy? A Challenge? (don't forget to have hubby measure you and record the measurements on mybodycomp.com. Then you can keep track of those melting inches along with the rest of us.....)

        YOU CAN DO IT!
        Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

        Measuring every 2 weeks
As of 10/31/05, losta total of 56.75 inches!

              Re: Trying again

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I'm really busy right now since school started a week ago and I'm still trying to figure out how to run my classroom now that I've met my students. So, I'm not joining any challenges for the moment and I can't ready every sticky. I will definitely get to it as soon as I can though.

I really love my job. It's a lot of work, but I just have the most wonderful students!

I have all my meals ready for tomorrow, so I'll let you know how day 1 went.

I survived day 1!!!! I'm not feeling very good tonight, but that's probably due to lack of sleep. I'm going to bed early tonight. I'm feeling good though!

                    Re: Trying again

Good for you! You made it through the first day.

Just in case what you are feeling is the beginnings of induction flu, read the sticky on the induction flu the second time around. Be good to yourself!

Now, tomorrow will be your second day. Drink a ton of water (you'll be peeing constantly - hope you have a good aide to cover the classroom for you when you dart out!) and take ibuprofin if you need to get through the school day. Then rest!

Woo Hoo on the first day! Ibuprofen can be your best friend for the next few days. And remember to pamper yourself a bit to help you thru the crummy induction flu.

                        Re: Trying again

Sorry I've been AFK. My students keep me very busy and I have SO much stuff to do. Hopefully it will slow down soon. I'm finishing my first week and it's going great so far! I can't wait to see my "official" weight at the end of induction in a week.

I've been great on my foods, so/so on my water, and I feel I've done good on exercise. I haven't worked out once since starting Atkins, but I'm constantly chasing students in my room, I'm all over the hallways talking to teachers and stuff. Basically I'm on my feet for at least 8 hrs. a day if not more. I rarely get to sit down. Maybe an hr. or two total during the school day.
