  • I'm not doing this right this time!

    http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=fivehorns

Well, I had my menu reviewed at Review my menu, and I will now cut out peperoni and add more veggies.

I have been very strict to Atkins since 07/05/05, I've lost a total of 5 lbs! I was making a mistake with shrimp and adding cocktail sauce a BIG no-no. It must be my salt in-take, with the peperoni, I eat that all the time. Fitday says I have plenty of fat.

I have just started light exercise. Sit-ups, leg-lifts.

I lost so much the first time around, almost 60 lbs! I feel like I'm just missing out on all the good food! I'm supposed to go to Cancun with my size 2 sister next July....HELP!

      Hey, Horns!

Good job for posting your menu and making adjustments. Just keep spreading those veggies out over the course of the day and you'll do fine. Also, reducing the salt is a key. Man, that stuff will hold in water!

As for the slow losses, check the stick up top on this forum about slow scales. It seems to be pretty true for many of us. I will tell you that since I wrote it, I've been steadily losing a half pound at a time after a pause at 207 lbs. And my inches are coming off much more quickly.

Once you get started on exercising, you might add in some cardio. That will speed up your metabolism and perhaps get the scale moving faster. (I didn't exercise at ALL last time, but this time I've been much better about it and I feel it is helping quite a bit).

What good food are you missing?

Re: I'm not doing this right this time!

ok, today I cut out all the pepperoni. I did have bacon for breakfast, I wa sout of eggs, so no omelette. I have a salad for lunch with: lettuce, mushrooms (3) and a little shredded cheese with 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing. I also have raw tuna with 2 tablespoons mayo and probably actually about 2 tsp of relish. With this I am eating sliced fresh ham.

Fitday doesn't tell me salt info., but I did notice the hidden carbs that popped up on my food choices. I'll just check the labels for salt!

I didn't list my dinner last night, cause I was on a new day. I had:

fresh broccoli with melted cheese and 4 deviled egg halves

How much salt is too much?

Keep me honest people, I need all the help I can get!

        Thanks,

        Fivehorns

I have no idea how much salt is too much. But I do know that I had a lot of very salty salmon last night and today I weighed 205 instead of 202, so I'm retaining water.........

If I think I am having too much salt I will just drink more water... I had posted before about pork rinds stalling me and how I didn't see why and someone told me it was the salt and when they eat them the will drink extra water- which makes perfect sense to me now! Way to go on changing your foods! I was eating a lot of pepperonis but I am tired of them now- so I will see when I weigh in September if I have benefited from it
Caution I BITE! clicky clicky..its tricky rikki!

No relish! relish is bad! Unless you have some secret special kind they put sugar in relish!!!

ANother thing to think about is that if you are starting out lower than you did last time, you'll lose at a slower pound-rate. It might be the same percentage of your body weight you're losing though, there's just less of it so it weighs less!

check your reports section of fitday. Salt is sodium chloride so too much salt would show up in your nutritional needs report as a high sodium amount.

There is a sugar free relish out there....it's Mt. Olive and it's made with Splenda. I've used it...sparingly...it tastes great mixed with tuna and mayo

Re: I'm not doing this right this time!

Be careful! Unless we're missing something there is sugar in the bacon, the relish (like knicknack said), and the dressing. You can buy sugar free bacon is some places, but make your own relish and dressing.

All of this stuff will hurt your weight loss so please be careful out there

MMM home made relish, I am going to have to pick my moms brain for her relish recipe, it was light green and sweet, the best relish I ever had, guess making it with splenda will take care of any concerns

Re: I'm not doing this right this time!

I looked on Fitday Reports and couldn't find a report to measure salt, could you be alittle more specific 2big4my size? Thanks.

I just realized Paprika on my deviled eggs has hidden carbs....so that's gone now, and the relish in my tuna salad I guess. Maybe I could have broiled shrimp in garlic butter, that's sounds good! I'm not real creative, guess I better start checking the recipe sesction!

I drink an awful lot of water, so would it benefit me to do a water pill? Or are those bad news?

                        Thanks Everyone!

oooh, no water pill! This diet is a diuretic as it is, you'll completely dehydrate yourself if you take a water pill.

You need to look at the 'Nutrition' report on www.fitday.com and look for the 'sodium' figure
Here is a website talking about the recommended daily intake for USA and UK and a few other associations which are all different!!
                            http://www.annecollins.com/sodium-rda-diet.htm
A google search for sodium and rda brings quite a selection to look at.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
