  • Soooo much harder this time.

When I did this 2 years ago, induction was so easy. I started induction a week ago and did really great for 4 days - felt kinda lousy one day but fine the rest. Well, today I blew it big time and now I feel even worse than I did with the one day induction flu! I guess I need to start ONE MORE TIME and really work on sticking with it for two weeks and no weighing or measuring or anything like that til my time is up. I get too discouraged if I don't see a change.

Re: Soooo much harder this time.

    <sigh> I know. I know.

Most of us re-started several times before finally getting into the "groove", so to speak. I think I started 4 or 5 times between December and May. I'd make it a half a day, a day, or about 10 hours. Once I did two days. It was sooo frustrating!

I think we also expect a lot when we do it again, because we had so much success the first time around. I have to say that although I have adjusted to the fact that the scale moves a lot slower this time, it was hard to accept at first. I really wanted that big drop on the scale.

On the other hand, I have to say that the inches are coming off just as fast this time around. I'm already fitting into things again that I thought would take at least another 5-10 lbs. It's just that during the first couple weeks, I didn't notice a change at all - it's almost as though my body had to get some momentum going before it was noticeable!

So anyway, my point in posting this is to reassure you that you are not alone, that we have all struggled with this, and are still struggling to stay focussed and on track. You CAN do it, and you WILL do it!

Read all of the stickies on this forum, check in at LEAST once a day on a post, and you will see!

Thanks for posting - I appreciate it. I guess I'm just going to have to do that and post every day; maybe I"ll be honest with myself! I am not going to check the scales though until Labor Day - maybe by then I'll see some sort of drop in weight! Hope so anyway!

I cant add anything to what Finelly said. She is our resident wordsmith ....... and a very good one at that!

Staying off the scale is not a bad thing but you could begin measuring and will see the inches melt off even when you dont think you are making any progress.

Happy low carbing to you Darn!

          Deb,

Winston Churchhill once said, "Never give up, Never give up, Never give up!!!". He wasn't talking about dieting, but the statement applies here.

We have to be realistic with ourselves. We have been eating wrong most of our lives and it's not going to be easy to change that. Don't feel like you are alone in this. I was tempted several times yesterday. I had to rationalize with myself that I really did not want to blow it... and Deb it wasn't easy.

When I see the success stories before and after pics, it does keep me motivated. Some of them don't even look like the same person... AMAZING transformations! One suggestion that might help. Find one of the success stories that thier before pic reminds you of yourself... and look at thier after pic. Tell yourself, "That WILL be me".

Don't look up the ladder and see how far you have to climb, just look at the next rung on the latter. Evertime you eat a proper meal and don't cheat, it's a battle won... another rung in the latter. Everytime you exercise... the same. Mentally prepare for each battle!

If you fall off the horse, take a moment and ask yourself:"Was it worth it?", "Did I really enjoy that as much as I thought I would?" Remember how it made you feel so that the next time you think about giving in you can remember how it "really" made you feel.

I probably have a strange way of looking at this... but, it works for me.

Hang in there and "Keep on truckin"... Next stop, slimsville.

Re: Soooo much harder this time.

Deb, I know how you feel, because I've had a long hard struggle with this myself. I once totally gave up on this WOE which is stupid, because it does work...and it does make me feel better. For me, the problem always seems to trace back to lack of motivation and carelessness.

But don't get discouraged...just try to take a new look on things this time. Feel free to join us in the "STRICT INDUCTION" thread...a lot of us are there trying to complete a 2 week cheat free induction, and it's really nice to have the extra support from others knowing that they are struggling along with me.

We are here to support you, so be sure to come here everyday and let us know how your doing okay?!

Hi there! Welcome to the board!

You have to remember you're also 4 years older than the last time you began this way of eating. You've changed a little physiologically.

Your fat cells are saying, "Hang on! You did this before, and I remember! I'm going to just sit here and wait a little while to make sure you mean it this time!"

It'll happen! Follow the -plan and read the 2002 version of the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution and it'll definitely happen!
