  • OT - Interview

Ok guys, I have an interview two weeks from today with a Judge. Please send some positive vibes my way. This would be such a great opportunity.

I love my current job (Paralegal in a law firm), but I'm feeling bored. Not actually looking anywhere else, but this opportunity presented itself and I absolutely cannot pass this up.

    You guys are great!

      **** sending good vibes Sarah's way ****

Hey Sarah, question. What does it take to become a paralegal? What schools? How long? I absolutely HATE what I'm doing and I need a change BIG TIME!! Or I'm gonna rip some heads off!

        Fin, I'll PM you.

Debbie, I started out as just a basic legal assistant with no experience. When I decided I wanted a raise I took an at-home course through Professional Career Development Institute, Program for Paralegal Studies. At the time, they just offered a diploma, but now they offer a degree. They send you books and materials, you do the work, take a test, they grade you. The program depended on how much time you dedicated. I was done in 6 months. I'm sure the degree program is longer though. Getting in the door is key. I took my first job, worked there 6 months and then upgraded. Sounds mean, I know, but had to get in somewhere to start.

Sarah, thanks for the info. Sure gets the mind thinking! Thanks for the good vibes everyone.

My interview yesterday SUCKED! I was so mad when I got home last night, I changed my clothes and poured me a 12 oz glass of wine. Then I sipped it all night while cooking dinner, doing dishes, etc. Can you imagine a job labeled Office MANAGER.... yes, MANAGER.... managing people... offering - get this.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. $10.00/hr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They loved me and my qualifications... well DUH!!!!! Who wouldn't want someone with 35 yrs experience for NOTHING!!! She said they would call later this week for a 2nd interview. I told her when the decision makers are serious, call me but NOT before!!

I'm cooled off now. Hubby told me to get a custom made computer (our IT guy makes them) and I'll start making slide shows at home for a living. I'm calling it "Memories on DVD".

Deb, Hubby's idea sounds great! Start your own business. That wage is not even competitive. $10/hr to do everything? Yes, I think I would find that insulting as well. Jerks. Sending more postive vibes your way. Look into that business idea!!! Better to be our own boss anyway.
