  • fibromyalgia and IBS

Fibromyalgia and Irritable Bowel Syndrome are two conditions I have that literally disappear as soon as I start Atkins.

I dont know if anyone else suffers from these...they often go hand in hand. Very painful. And I only started really suffering from these after I moved to Utah and gave birth to my last little one three years ago...uh...and gained weight again

I swear its like a miracle. I start the Atkins...and the very next day...the IBS is gone. The acid reflux....gone. And no fibro attacks. Its like this way of living relieves all the stress I was putting on my body...including my digestive system.

Anyway...just wanted to share yet another thing Atkins is great for.

I have fibro and it's not as bad as it used to be, but I've had it for years. I notice that the attacks aren't as painful as before though. I didn't have IBS but my husband was lactose intolerant and that disappeared with Atkins. In fact we just had spaghetti squash with a garlic cream sauce and before just a spoonful would have him in pain. Now it doesn't cause a single problem! Atkins does wonderful things!

My lactose intolerance is gone too. I used to think I had terrible stomach problems - everything I ate made me sick. Since starting Atkins, I've been 100% fine. So happy.

A lot of lactose intolerance is the softer, newer cheeses. And milk. Because we eat aged cheeses and cream, the problems virtually disappear.

          That's interesting, Finelly.

So when you move to OWL and reach the dairy rung (rybread and bugaboo's dh) be aware of the possibility of that returning and be prepared to be choosy about what dairy products you reintroduce.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

No kidding? I had no idea! Though it makes a lot of sense.

Heh, I know what you mean. I spent a great deal of time in the dairy rung, "feeling my way around," so to speak. I knew from the get-go that the dairy rung would be the toughest rung for me, based on my history of problems with dairy. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but it certainly was an eye opener, in terms of learning what my tolerances was.

But, I love that about OWL. I love that I'm learning so much about my body.

Actually my husband can eat any dairy now and not have any problems which is incredible considering how intolerant he was. I think before it had to do with the high carbs in addition to dairy made digesting it painful. I don't quite understand how the body breaks down lactose. Whatever it was he's a happy clam now and still maintaining his goal weight!
