  • And so it begins...

Hi all... just started my Day 1 of induction this morning... did all the grocery shopping yesterday, cleaned out all the stuff that needed to go bye bye from the kitchen, etc.

I had done Atkins with great success once before. I originally started out at 265 and was able to get down to 205. Then I rebounded back up to 235. At that point I went to the dark side (WW) and got back down to 220... but alas, here I am back at 235 again... and returning to what works for me... Atkins.

I have my "before" pictures taken... front, side, and back in a pair of gym shorts... Im just disgusted looking at them... that isnt me. I am very much torn at whether or not to post them. I want to... but possibly after there is some progress and a set of "after" pictures have been made.... on the other hand, I feel that just "sucking it up" and showing them would be humbling and help me stay on track... any ideas or input on this?

Anyways, I just wanted to stop in and say hi and let you know I will be around... alot!

PS - For any of you that may remember me from the first time around (almost 2 years ago!) feel free to say hi!

    Take care,

    Erik

(PS - I made this post in a few other sections as well until I get a feel for where I should hanging out and what posts belong where. I apologize if thats a no-no)

Hey, Erik! If it's any consolation, you're a major cutie patootie right now!

I followed Weight Watchers, too! In 3 months I lost 25 pounds and was always hungry. In 3 months on Atkins I lost 55 pounds and was never hungry!

      Welcome back!

I, too, have been doing the "shall I or shall I not" debate about photos. So far, the answer has been "no". Not because I'm embarassed to let other people see me. But because I am disgusted by my own photos!

Now that I'm starting to look better, I MAY post some.....

Sounds like you are all organized and ready to start. Read all of the stickies on this forum, post every day, and don't be a stranger! Let it all out - that's the key.

Erik - I saw your photos on the other forum.

                My comments:

Well, for starters, you are too hairy for any woman to be. I suggest that you perhaps try waxing the legs, chest, and face. It's really unseemly and I doubt you will be able to find a boyfriend looking like that.

In addition, let's face it. You are flat-chested. You need a push-up bra. You look like a MAN!

Also, what woman of any class goes TOPLESS in photos? PUT A SHIRT ON, LADY!

Finally, I'd like to suggest that you go for a makeup consultation. Some nice blush, a little lip gloss, a touch of mascara will do wonders.

                Oh...........wait..............You're a GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, shoot! In that case, you already look pretty hot! NOTHING to be embarassed about!!!!!!!!!!!

                    Woo hoo!! Welcome back, Erik!

I've been meandering around, not really (greatly) gaining weight, but not really (greatly) losing any either. Good days mostly, but some bad days thrown in to off set things. I'm down a few pounds from a week ago but haven't been eating well in the past 24 hours. So were is this rambling leading to? YOU getting MY butt back in gear! I hope you don't mind me using you for inspiration.

Tell Jen and the boys hi and thanks for sharing some of your time with the forums here. I hope all is well in your world. The four of you do my heart good. Something about karma, balance and hope. Okay, maybe that's corny, but it's true. Life may not always be easy, but my husband makes my heart mushy too.

Congrats on tackling the minor weight gain before it became a larger one. ....now I'm off in search of those photos...

                        Re: And so it begins...

Day 2 is rough so far on a few levels to be honest...

1st... we have 5 new hires in at my work and with that comes cases and cases of free donuts and fruit and bagels... #$^%$&$ I was strong though, not slips

2nd... I feel like a space cadet so far today... cant concentrate.. out of it... feeling the symptoms of being light headed but not actually light headed.. if that makes sense.

Im fully expecting exhaustion and headaches by the end of the day... but i know this all passes in a few days... nothing I cant (or havent) dealt with before.

I just hate feeling out of it, work is going to be a challenge the next few days.

Hang in there! You are going to do great! Awesome job resisting the carb fest. Sometimes work is the hardest place to be. Is for me anyway. Home you have planned and prepared. Work, free for all. Ibuprofen definitely helps in the first few days. Isn't it amazing how are bodies have to detox from the food we eat?

you can do it. i guess it kinda helps that you know what to expect already. i agree with the work place being the hardest place to be when on induction. i want to say thats where i probably gained most of my weight. when i was working and i was a secretary for a university so i would not move alot. always had to be at my desk for the students. It didnt help that faculty would bring in food for us and then the students started bringing in food as well. I really like working with the students, probably becuase i was their age.lol. but i finally realized it was not helping me out eating what they were bringing me, so i posted a sign on my desk, "Don't Feed the Secretary", also would question it and i would be honest telling them i was trying to lose weight. they were sweet would bring me healthy good after that. anyway im rambling. just though i would let you know the board is here for you during the hard times as you might already know. give me a yell anytime you need anything.

OMG, I LOVE to sniff donuts!

If you have the ability to, definitely smell one. It helps with the cravings. I find that when I sniff something I really want I feel as satisfied as though I'd eaten it.

It works with Snickers, bread, cookies, pizza and donuts... anything you might want to eat (so long as it smells good, that is... haggis might be out)
