  • I don't know what else to do!

I have been so strict. I cut out the peperoni's I was once eating and the relish out of my tuna salad. I keep my salt way down and I have not strayed at all. I am still only down 6 lbs. Granted part of the reason was I was doing it wrong in the beginning, so I guess I can only count the last 2 weeks as strict.

What is a good time frame to start seeing results? It's been a total of 2 months tomorrow, and I'm getting frustrated. I have to keep telling myself I've only been doing this for 2 weeks strictly! I guess I just need some motivation.

My daily diet consist of the following on most days:

    Breakfast
    2 scrambled eggs
    2 slices of bacon
    water
This morning I added green onion to my eggs for greens!

    Lunch
    Tuna with 2 tablespoons mayo
1 boiled egg diced and added
3 1" slices of cheddar cheese
    2 sticks string cheese

    or

salad with lettuce/fresh mushrooms/shredded chedder and 2 tbls ranch dressing
and 2 deviled eggs with 3 tsp. mayo

    water

    Dinner
crab stuffed Salmon or shrimp with garlic butter
or 2 chicken thighs baked in itlaian dressing
fresh broccoli - steamed with parmesean cheese
    water

Usually no snacks, just more water!

Does anyone see anything wrong with any of this?

    Thanks,

Re: I don't know what else to do!

do you track your fats and calories on www.fitday.com? you do have to make sure you keep your calories up..i can't really tell how many calories you had in this menu...

the other thing i'd point out is you should be getting your 3 cups of veggies every day, they're very very important. also i'm not sure how many ounces of cheese you had..cheese strings are 1oz each, but i'm not sure how many ounces the '1" slices' were?

I'd say it looks good though, just make sure you keep the fats up..your calories aren't too low and your drinking at least 64 ozs of water a day.

You should also post your height/cw/gw etc on the bottom of your signature, that can really help when answering posts too..

You're eating a lot of cheese.

You know, it's possible you could be suffering from candida, which will cause weight stalling. Check the forum here at ADBB and take the spit test. You might want to try cutting the cheese (har har) for a week and see how you feel.

Also, if you haven't been following Atkins strictly, there could be the problem right there. As sadie says, now is the time to be accountable to yourself and use fitday! It really does help!

      So give it a go!

Follow the 2002 version of the Dr Atkins Diet Revolution faithfully, make sure you exercise everyday and drink your water!

Re: I don't know what else to do!

        Are you taking any medications?
        Have you lost any inches?
Working out? Were you working out before?
What's your starting weight and goal weight?
Have you yo-yo dieted in the past?
Is there sugar in your italian dressing or fake crab in your crab meat?

There are lots and lots of things that might contribute to you losing 6lbs in 2 months. Perhaps you're metabolically resistant. Perhaps you're missing something minor (do know of someone who couldn't lose weight until she gave up gum). Perhaps there's another medical condition, such as low thyroid.

It's probably not hopeless, and if you're willing to work with us, we should probably be able to find you a solution.

It's achingly slow for many of us the second time around......have you read the sticky about the slow scale?

I don't know what to tell you except that after FOUR weeks I had only lost 6 lbs, and after NINE weeks I've only lost 17. Which makes me want to KILL Cleochatra, lol.

You can try cutting some of your cheese intake, but basically you might want to just throw away the scale and be patient with yourself.............Not what you wanted to hear, I know.

Re: I don't know what else to do!

Okay, now I'm cutting back my cheese. I was measuring and trying not to go over 4-5 oz a day, I guess my body can't handle it. And no more crab cakes, there was imitation crab in it.

I'm sticking with you guys, I really want this weight off. Do you think taking a water pill will help? I'll do the spit test, but I not sure how I could have too much yeast, I eat no starch and that's what I thought yeast was in. Maybe I mis-understand that part.

okay did the measuring thing last night also:

            Started 2nd time: 07/05/05:
            161 lbs.
            08/29/05
            155 lbs. arms 13"/thighs 23"/butt 42"/chest 35"/waist 31"

Wish me luck, I'm not ready to give up yet!

Re: I don't know what else to do!

              Fivehorns,

Absoulutely do not take any diuretics!!! That will not make things better! It may even make it worse not to mention you should nto take meds you don't really need. As for the cheese, I think you may have misunderstood the amount. We don't limit it to 4-5oz but to 3 oz! If you have been eating 5 oz of cheese a day or sometimes, that is a lot of cheese.

The other thing that makes a difference is how much weight do you have to lose? You don't really say and what is your height? If you have to lose about 30 to 40 lbs, the second time around or even the first will go slowly because these are relatively small amounts to lose (of course, when it is you, it doesn't seem small! lol), so it will go slowly. You have to be patient with yourself and not look at the amount and speed you lose weight. Just as long as the punds and inches arecoming off. Like someone said, you may be metab. resistant and it may take a long time to see the results you want but as long as it is dropping, I would say you have to be very very patient. Make sure that you are using your tape measure more than you are using your scale; that way you can tell if your inches are doing better than the pounds. Hang on and stay the course! There are many Atkiners here who have lost weight so slow, they were losing only a few pounds a month; they almost gave up but didn't and even though it took them twice as long to get to goal, they still made it! Don't give up and don't use the scale to measure your weight loss mood of highs and lows. TRy re-reading the book, it can be a great motivator when you feel down about the weight loss.

Re: I don't know what else to do!

so how are your inches doing?e you doing as the madatory exercise part of your Atkins? Have you seen your doc to rule out any medical issues?

The yeast they are referring to are not the yeast used in baking but a systemic yeast infection in your gut caused by candida specis of yeast or fungus. Many folk like Becky Sue were tried and try by the book Atkineers without any loss until they discovered they had a yeast issue and combated it. Boy you shiould have seen beckySue's posts when she finally found out the cause and saw those scales a moving.

^ pounds is a great job for a month with all the accidnets your induction has suffered too.

                Happy low carbing.

Re: I don't know what else to do!

One thing to keep in mind about how long it takes to lose is that time is going to pass and you can either weigh less or you can weigh the same or more at the end. If you give up now because you're not losing fast enough, where are you going to be in a year?

In five years, are you going to remember if it took you 2 years to get to goal? Is anyone who meets you even going to know you lost weight?

It sounds weird, but the best compliment I got was a woman muttering under her breath about what would I know about weight loss. It took me 13 months to 50lbs, but if I'd quit, I wouldn't have lost 50lbs and she wouldn't have had reason to say that.

Hang in there - it's worth it.
