  • Cheese and Mayo

    Hello buddies ,

Does anybody have issues with stalls with Mayo and Cheese? I have been on a
clean induction for 7 days but my body is not responding. Normally I respond
very quickly, however I have always noticed that mayo and cheese can create
a stall sometimes, but not to the extent that I do not get in to Ketosis at all!

I never go above 3 oz of cheese but I can eat up to as much as 4 tablespoons of Mayo…

I do not eat any cheat foods, bars or go above 20 grams of carbs.

I am having a real battle this time round, in fact i've put on 2 pound! I'm all over the
place and feeling very blue .

    Thanks friends

    Re: Cheese and Mayo

Hi Sally, It looks like no one has responded yet to your question. I would like to know what others think of this too. I personally have not stalled due to keeping my cheese and mayo amounts to what you have specified. I did notice that you don't have much weight to lose so that might be a factor. You may be retaining water. Is it close to that TOM? I gained 3 lbs because of that and then it took over 2 wks to lose that again. Are you drinking enough water, doing any exercise? All these may be a factor too.

Again, I hope more people start responding as I would like to know their opinion. Please hang in there because I think this is a temp weight gain and not real with the amounts of cheese and mayo you have ate.

      Hi there!

Cheese can stall some people, especially if afflicted with candida albicans. Have you had any problems with yeast infections?

Also, how do you know how many ounces of cheese you are getting? Do you weigh the cheese? If not, you might be eating more than you think.

Mayonnaise shouldn't be the cuplrit, as a Tbsp is 100 calories a pop.

The weight gain is water weight. Mayonnaise and cheese are both higher in sodium.

Have you taken your measurements lately?

        Re: Cheese and Mayo

If you think it is cheese or mayo, I would cut them out completely, one at a time for two weeks. IF you cut out cheese, and are still stalled, cut out mayo also. IF you are no longer stalled add back the cheese and see what happens. If you are still loosing, then it was mayo. If eliminating the cheese breaks the stall, then it was cheese.

You are really close to your goal weight, when was the last time you were 112 lbs? Do you know what your body fat percentage is at 119? Have you gained muscle? What is your BMI?

          Thanks for your replies ,

Hi Linda, No not nearing TOM, but likely to be hormonal. I have found that the pork rinds that I have been eating have sugar in them, not that I have many, but it must be these . I am quite gutted at this realization and very irritable with myself. My 1 week of ‘clean’ induction has been soiled !

Hi Cleo – I do weigh the cheese and always under the 3 oz, but I love mayo and I am sure that I have too much of this. I do have to watch the cheese as it does stall me if I go over the 3 oz.

Hi Woman Praised - Cutting out the Cheese and Mayo sounds easy, first I shall reduce them and cut out the pork rinds that I think have caused the problem.

I was 112 about 4 months back, I have not gained muscle as I only do cardio and I can tell it’s fat! My current BMI is 18.6.

Many thanks for your help, I back to square 1 cutting out pork rinds and reducing the Cheese and Mayo.

          Have a nice day

            Re: Cheese and Mayo

Let us know how getting rid of the cheese and/or mayo for a few days goes!

Don't get rid of mayo and cheese together, because it might give you a false positive on one of them. IE: If the mayo is really the problem and you stopped eating cheese, you might assume the cheese is also the problem.

SAlly , thank heavens a woman after my own heart. You just described exactly what im goingthrough. Usually shed the weight so quickly on this WOE, have been munching mayo but watching cheese very carefully, rotten taste in mouth and ketostix say im in ketosis, so then why are my clothes getting tighter.

              So confused and also discouraged.
Have cut cheese out altogether and limited now to minimal mayo for two days and waiting to see what happens.
By the way 5f7" is tall, isnt 112lbs below weight for your height?

Water weight is the pits once a month and will easily affect a person for pounds and pounds (which ride like thousands!)!

That's what's happenin' to you, hotstuff!

There comes a time when BMI is garbage. BMI doesn't take anything into account for your frame type, the amount of lean muscle mass you're carrying, etc etc. There are world class atheletes with a high BMI.

Go in and get your body fat tested. It's the most accurate and reliable measure of where you're truely at and will help you ascertain exactly what reasonable and healthy goals for you are!

Drink your 64 ounces, plus an extra 8 for every 25 pounds you are overweight as a rule.

The weight gain is temporary, and dehydration will only provoke your body into holding onto the water even more.
