  • Extended induction - where are the rules?

    Hello all

I am on my last few days of induction. Cleo mentioned yesterday that extended induction is where you move through the OWL rungs but stick to 20g carbs. I have searched through my edition of DANDR and I can't find anything about it? Is there anything else I need to know?

I assume that when you have 10 pounds left, you then start increasing your carbs by 5g a week. Obviously, you've already done the rungs so just overall carbs.

Any help would be appreciated as I'd like to start this on Monday.

    Thanks

Well, that's one version of extended induction. I have no idea what "rules" there are, unless you go over to the OWL forum and follow the rungs that way, only at less than 20 carbs.

The one almost everyone does is stay on regular induction for up to a year..........

Re: Extended induction - where are the rules?

As far as I know 'extended induction' is just that - induction over a longer period of time - same rules and limits as the first 14 days.
I think you are talking of what they call on this board 'modified OWL', where instead of adding 5 net carbs of the new rungs and building up your carb count to find your CCLL (critical carb level for losing) you move up the OWL ladder but trade off some carbs so although you add 5 net carbs of veggies you dont have so many eggs or cheese so you keep your net carbs at 20 maximum.
Then for the dairy rung you add 5 net carbs of dairy but drop 5 net carbs of veggies and so on till you have climbed the OWL rungs and found if any food groups upset your body but still are eating the net 20 carbs.

Do a search for 'modified OWL' especially for posts from 2big4mysize, it is also mentioned in the OWL stickies.

Here is one thread about it I found in a quick search

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Extended induction - where are the rules?

That's my understanding too. Extended induction is staying on induction, following the rules of induction past the mandatory two weeks. I have read some discussion about the addition of nuts. When you move to OWL, there is all sorts of experimenting going on! Some stay to the 20 grams of cards (modified OWL) while moving through the rungs.

Thanks Guys - modified OWL is what I was thinking of. Will go and do a search now. Cheers x
