  • A Question For Uk Atkineers

    Hi All,

I just wanted to know where you shop and what you ate on induction.

As we know the UK isn't as geared up as the USA for low carb lifestyles, even though it is getting better.

So much of our food as a lot of nitrates and aspartame in them and we have to really read the packaging.

But I just wondered if any of you had any advice, tips etc on the foods you eat etc.
    Love & Hugs

hi im from the uk,up north near manchester and i shop very cheaply for induction stuff.

the local market is great for getting chicken breasts, fish, eggs by the tray and essential veg and salad stuffs cheap.
I also shop at lidl for bratworst sausage that has zero carbs and at £2.49 for 8 huge ones that aint bad at all...one is way too much for a serving ,each sausage is like the same thickness as black pudding and twice as long so i half them then freeze, the cheese range is also very good and cheap and they also sell 100% beef quarter pounders at £1.09 for 4 which makes up a good meal twice a week with salad or veg, when im in a hurry.
Do look on the reduced section in the supermarket as i have got my whole weeks supply of veg and salad for next to nothing and any meat that has got a short date on i have cooked straight away and frozen for another time

      Hi Louise

I tend to stick just to basic fresh foods, i.e Chicken, fish, Chesse, Mayo, salads and Veg.

However Boots do sell some nice drinks called shapers which are induction friendly, I mix a drop of this into my water to give it a little taste, a bottle can last for a while.

Watch out for pork rinds, in the UK I find thay they contain sugars...found out the hard way :-(

        Hi Lou

Sainsburys have a low carb range now - pasta, ketchup, sauces etc. which are really reasonably priced (Hellman's carb options).

Best thing is Heinz now do a low carb ketchup (sainsburys). Haven't tried it yet as it's not induction friendly.

The biggest "con" about all of the lo carb foods (imho) is the carb options mayonaisse.

Its actually higher in carbohydrate than normal Helmans full fat mayo.

          HTH a little?

            RICHT,

            You look awesome.

What do you eat Rich and how do you measure your veggies/salad?

I know when I was here last, me and Zarabelle had so many problems with our veg/salad measurements.

              Hi Lou
It's easier now we have the American Book. I have also bought some American measuring cups which is handy.

                  Hey Lou
Got them from my local farm shop. 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup and 1/4 cup - very handy. You should be able to get them from a traditional department store if you have one near you.
