  • What I'm Going To Do Different This Time Around ! What Are You Going To Do Different?

    I am going to join the gym at work every lunch time and drink at least 2 ltrs of water each day.

    I am also going to come and post on the board when I get a "Sugar" craving and have a glass of water, which hopefully will make the craving go away

    I'm gonna make sure that I don't fall off the wagon! I'm limiting the Mayo and
    Cheese this time around and like you using the gym in my lunch break.

      Great post and great question, Louise.

      This time around, I've been doing the following things differently:

      - exercise - regularly.

      - moving to OWL earlier. I committed to moving to OWL at 200 lbs, and that happened yesterday. Last year, I was at 188 and still wasn't ready for OWL

      - Experimenting with veggies I thought I hated. In particular, spinach. My new favorite veggie. I eat it several different ways - 10 cups per week.

      - Learned to make flax crackers. OMG! YUM!

      - Learned my weight-loss pattern. It's a relief not to sit around getting upset when the scale doesn't change. Now I know that I drop a few pounds, stay in a "pause" for a week, and then drop a few more. It's slow, but there's a pattern, and I don't sweat it.

      - Learned to love iced coffee with cream. I was really missing Starbucks last time - not just the raspberry mochas, but the opportunity to sit outside and smoke and chat and just enjoy the San Diego weather. This time, I realized I didn't have to. I didn't LIKE iced coffee when I started, but now I find it refreshing, plus I still get to do the outside chatting with the daughters about everything under the sun thing.

        Oh yes and i'm also going to .............

        Give up completely, drinking decaf coffee. I find if I have a cup of coffee then I fancy another one. I'm going to ONLY drink WATER and exchange my coffee for water, that should help me get closer to drinking those 2 ltrs of water per day.

        I will exercise 5 days per week and have weekends off to rest my body.

        I am only going to measure and not weigh my body so I don't get disheartened when the scales don't move. From previous experience, inches went quicker than lbs

        I'm sure there was something else I was going to do differently too, but it' gone out of my mind at the moment

              Don't hang around or associate with certain individuals (down and out, hopeless, crazy or negative) but mainly environments that trigger my old behavior and habits.

                Hi Lou, I'm moving up the OWL ladder. Last time, I stayed on induction for five months and was BORED with the food big time!

                  As of now the things I plan to do differently are:
                  • Drink MORE water & less Diet Sodas
                  • Measure myself only, the long stalls last time were too disheartening, I need to worry more about my body SIZE that the weight.
                  • Bring lunches to work. It's too easy to 'cheat' going out to lunch all the time, plus it will be better for me & save $$$ in the long run.
                  • Set mini-goals for myself & reward myself when I get to them. I didn't really do anything for myself last time, I need to let myself know that I am worth all the effort
                  • Eat 'real' foods & stay away from the shakes & pre-packaged 'low-carb' stuff.
                  I am sure I will think of more as time goes on, I am just so happy I am back on track, I can't tell you how much better I am feeling, it's amazing!!

                    What I've done differently....no lo carb bars at all...no matter what. If I'm going to be out running errands etc. I bring a Flax meal muffin or even some Pork Rinds.

                    Have added lunchtime walks, weather permitting....and Pilates at home before work...oh and I'm drinking lots more water!

                    The best thing I've done is join Stac and post and check in regularly It does help.
