    Hi Morning Exercisers

As a rule if I work out before work I do not eat anything as

the body will start to burn off fats quicker, however I am

not so sure what the general opinion is whilst on Atkins.

Do you eat prior to working out?

    Many thanks

    Re: Morning Exercisers

Hmmm... I will work out lightly without eating, but anything strenuous leaves me feeling really faint if I do'nt eat first. So, in general I'd recommend eating something, especially if you're going to be doing a lot of exercise.

Nope. I don't eat before I workout, and I workout vigorously 6 days a week. Even when running I didn't eat before I went (running 5Ks - longer? I would probably drink a protein shake or something of the like).

It's been my experience that feeling faint during exercise has more to do with working past/over your ability than it does with an empty stomach. With excess fat stores, we have plenty of stored energy for exercise. That's what it's there for and what we're trying to target.

Working out in the morning before eating really torques up the fat burning and the metabolism. I workout and then shower and get ready and then eat. It's what the vast majority of exercise books/programs I've read recommend, what my doctor recommended and what my personal trainer recommended too.

All in all, it comes down to what works best for you and what you're most comfortable with.

I'm one that has to eat before I exercise....or I get very ill. I eat a good breakfast let it settle then I'm off to the races. Works for me

I always have to eat a little before exercising or half way into my walk I'm ravenous! has science really proven the exercise-on-an-empty-stomach theory? I had a personal trainer years ago that said it was debatable.

            Hi All

Hope everyone is feeling good today and well .

Many thanks for your replies, they are really helpful. I have never eaten prior to working out in order to really to boost my metabolic rate. I have been told that if you eat it takes 30 mins plus of cardio before burning the fat stores as you have to burn what is in the blood stream where as when you are running on empty (so to speak) fat burning is instant.

However I thought Atkins WOE could have a different view on this. I can still manage a long hard run but like brook need food at hand afterwards.

Many thanks for your responses, have a nice day.
