  • Flax crackers?

    Hi

I bought some flax powder today (hope this is what you need and not flax seeds?) and want to make the famous flax crackers that everyone raves about.... where is the recipe?

    Thanks

      Re: Flax crackers?

What you need is flax meal, which is like a powder, as opposed to whole flax seeds, which are, well, little round seeds. Be sure to keep it in your refrigerator after opening or it will spoil.

I just put some flax meal in a bowl and mix with seasonings of choice: for me, usually basil and parmesan cheese. Then add an equal amount of water until you have a gooey paste. Spoon a bit onto a piece of parchmentpaper, flatten it out as best you can with a fork, pretty thin, and microwave it for about 3min.

I never measure anything! Experiment! There's probably a recipe in the recipe section somewhere....
      good luck!

I'm not sure where the recipe is but I use 2 tbsp flax meal and 1 tbsp water. I stir, divide into two and flatten each portion on parchment paper in the microwave. I then nuke it for 45 seconds, flip it over and nuke for another 45 seconds and serve it with our breakfast as our "toast". I like dipping it in my eggs.

This will make two pieces so I eat one and my DH eats the other.

Please note: If I eat two, it will cramp up my stomach somewhat...so just be aware of the potential uncomfortable feelings. I just stick to one per day.

          Hope this helps.
