  • Day 8 and I fell off..What to Do...

I was so proud of myself when I passed on the brownies yesterday and I said to myself if I can just make it through the companies outing today, I would be able to finish off the 14 days with no problem...

We got to Chelsea Piers and there were Ruffles chips on the table (my favorite) but I held strong. Lunch was sandwiches, mixed greens and pasta salad. I was doing good. I had half a ham and cheese sandwich and half a turkey and cheese sandwich (and yes, I was planning on taking the bread off), I grabbed some mixed greens with some caesar dressing and was almost free and clear until the dessert table. It kept calling me and I caved. I ate 3 chocolate chocolate chip cookies, half a piece of chocolate pound cake and had a bite of a brownie...and the chips.

Do I start over or do I just pick myself up and continue on?

Pick yourself up and continue. If you went out of ketosis (you'll know tomorrow by your pee and dry mouth, etc) then you MIGHT consider extending your induction, but wait and see on that.

Be prepared to feel like crap tonight and tomorrow, though. I hear that eating sugar and bread often gives you, um, well, intestinal discomfort......

Go back to induction until you get back into ketosis and finish off your 2 weeks. Then move right to OWL. I think you miss having the choices?

At any rate, it's also important to not sabotage yourself anymore.

What did you learn from this experience, and how will you avoid this happening again?

Little steps like this make all the difference in avoiding making the same mistakes again.

My suggestion is to get right back into it and don't sweat it. One day isn't going to change your new way of life and the new way of thinking. However, I would re-consider breakfast. I am sure that it is just me and I dont' want to sound preachy, but how about three eggs and five (or six) slices of bacon. I always feel like a lighter lunch after a huge breakfast.

rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
                rung 4 - berries, melon
                rung 5 - wine -
                rung 6 - beans, hummus
                rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
                Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range

Is that all you are eating?? Wow I do at least 3 eggs for breakfast along with some meat and/or something else. Of course, that's me. I love breakfast.
But yeah, just dust yourself off, and get back on plan. It's all a learning experience along the way, and you are not the first to cave in! So don't beat yourself up too bad. You can do this and it will get easier!!

Unfortunately, I have the world's worst eating habits...usually. But I'm going to take your advice and start off with a big breakfast and then have a light lunch. I find that when I do have a big breakfast it tides me over til after lunch and I end up eating a late afternoon snack..pepperoni slices or string cheese. I just try not to eat too much cheese. I'm a big meat eater.

P.S. Still in Ketosis...well, at least that's what the strip said.
