i'm not undergoing any changes lately. no weight loss, no inch loss. i'm eating less than 20 carbs a day, exercising, taking a daily vitamin... etc.

just getting a bit pissed off.

and before anyone says it... i'm not here to feel better. truthfully, i've never really felt unhealthy... i'm here to quit being fat.

Is it possible that you should begin to up your carbs and begin to follow OWL? Hasn't been my experience but I have read where it was for some. They began to lose when they went on to OWL

      Hey

I know it is normal to stall in weeks 4-6. I did Atkins a while back (know I am back!) but I had the same experience. Sometimes it helps to up your carbs a bit.... I would tell you to try and be patient but I don't want you to becuz that is what I wanted to do when people told me that!!! Maybe post a daily menu....including water and exercise. I am sure their are many people around to give some advice!

Try to stay positive and keep up the good work!

Dan you have been doing Atkins this time for about a month you have lost over 12 pounds which is a great change for you about 30% of your needed to lose amount. Congrats great job!!!!! that would have been 44 pounds for somebody like me.

you need Patience and look at the big picture not the every day scale number. Weight loss isn't an every day event. It takes time to get there. yes, you could do an extreame diet job cutting your cals and upping your exercise to 8 hrs a day and reshape your body quickly but why? you have the rest of your life to be the smaller healtheir Dan and grow old with your family in a healthier eating and exercising way. Isn't that what this is really about? being the best you can be today and tomorrow, not the best you think you should be yesterday?

so move to OWL and see what happens sometimes. that is just what folk stalled out in induction need. the micronutrients in the more veggies can be a big help in getting a stalled out metabolism going.

How is the exercise part of your Atkins going?

Are you eating desserts? Just a thought but once upon a time I used to eat a small low carb dessert every day. The scale did not move for anything. As soon as I scrapped the desserts, I lost weight almost immediately. If that is not the case with you, then just be patient, its moments like this that usually end in a surprising and welcomed whoosh.

            Hi dan-

there's always going to be weeks where your scale stays the same no matter what you do. Doesn't matter which diet you're on. Just remember that this is a process, and if you're staying the same weight maybe stop weighing yourself for a couple of weeks.

Going to OWL sounds like a good idea as well. Might as well try it!

You don't know that you aren't undergoing any changes. I'll tell you what, my scale didn't budge for about 12 weeks, but I still went down from a size 22 to a size 16. Now I don't really understand how I could be a size 16 and still weigh 190 pounds but thats exactly what happened to me.

The number on the scale is meaningless.

Ok, I'm going to be really blunt here. I've read all of your posts, most of which have to do with the scale not moving.

I'm on Atkins because I don't want to be fat, also.

                In 14 weeks, I've lost 18 lbs.

It irks me that you lost 12 in way less than that, and are upset because the scale doesn't move. Do you have any idea how it makes the rest of us feel? Those who have struggled to just lose a few pounds? Those of us who, like you, haven't cheated, and are trying to celebrate every ounce and every inch?

Stop whining and throw away the scale already. It's governing how you feel about yourself and how you (don't) relate to others.

I can't believe you even fixed your mouth to say what you did. NOBODY said anything negative/harsh toward you when you were complaining about your mother for over a week straight. Every check in was about how she made your life miserable when she was visiting you. Did it ever occur to you that others might not have their mother? Did it ever occur to you that everybody has given you nothing but love here and you go off like this toward somebody else who want to post their feelings. You sure are cold blooded!!

adding more carbs to my diets sorta scares me. i mean, i keep thinking i'm not losing weight because i eat too many carbs already.

i do a long distance run at least 3 times a week. and i eat a large salad everyday. thats all i know.

                        Re: getting discouraged.

Sometimes you need to eat MORE to stoke up your metabolism, otherwise your body gets used to maintaining your current weight at your current intake. I've seen too many people break a stall by eating more to know it isn't crazy as it sounds!

Doesn't mean to go pig out or lose control - just add some extra carbs - veggie carbs if you are worried about cravings - and see what happens. Good luck.

                          Hi Dan

I can see why you may feel frustrated. Are you sure the inches aren't moving? I take it you're not eating any sweetners or something that can stall you?

Keep going - I bet you'll have a whooshie soon and it will all be worthwhile.

Personally, I know that I almost stall (maybe lose 1 pound) for three weeks and then have a whooshie on the fourth. It's weird - I think my body kind of works it all out on a monthly basis instead of weekly!!

                          Take care

Hi Cobra Dan....as all others said...patience is a big part of dieting. I can't have the scale around the house. If I do, I will get on it everyday and be upset that the numbers are not where I want them. It will depress me and I will fall off the wagon. I had my husband hide the scale for me. If you hid your scale by giving it to someone to hold on to and then weigh in like monthly you would always see some changes. That way you can focus on how you look more than those numbers. You can do this. Try not to get so discouraged.
