  • Hey!

    Hi all

Cleo told me about this second time around forum and it sounds great! So here goes...

I am back! I fell off the wagon for about a month so now weigh 235 when I *was* down to 229 from 262. But all is not lost. I had a pretty tough time the past few weeks, a couple of bad things happened to people around me and found myself doing my usual thing of comfort eating no matter how hard I try I don't think I am going to be able to stop that, I guess I need to comfort eat something a little more atkins friendly than a great big bar of chocolate

Anyway, I never asked for this before because I always felt motivated enough on my own, but right now I just feel sooo sluggish, I wondered what you all do to keep yoursleves motivated while you're feeling down? I am getting married in march and don't want to waddle down the aisle, I want to feel proud of who I am and what i have achieved! So, if you would share with me your handy tips, I would be very grateful!

Hi to all of you who I used to talk to , and hi to the new guys that I have yet to meet !!

    Lots of love,

    Katy xx

Hi Katy and welcome to STAC! You've come to a great place with lots of wonderful and supportive people.

I'm so not perfect, but what helps is knowing how much better I feel following this WOE...and things in the closet I want to wear again It's more difficult this time and much slower but very well worth it.

Good luck and I'm sure you will do just fine

          Hi Katy, welcome to STAC!

My biggest word of advice is (drum roll please).............preplanning. Seems to be my downfall. If I have not planned out and/or cooked some things to keep in the fridge, I tend to fall off the wagon. So I always have the breakfast muffins on hand for a quick morning meal, lettuce cut up in the fridge, etc.

          Best wishes!!!!

              Re: Hey!

Hi Katy! I fell off the wagon too and am currently re-inducting myself. I agree that pre-planning is very important. Even if you feel the need to eat for emotional reasons (which is not encouraged but hey, even Dr. A said he needed to on occasion) at least it's better to munch on some devilled eggs or olives or something. I spend about an hour on the weekend making devilled eggs, cutting up veggies, sorting out dinner meats, etc. so I'm ready for the week ahead. For motivation I try to remember how great I feel on plan and how sucky I feel off plan. I re-read portions of DANDR just to remind myself of what I'm doing here. Exercise is great for getting those endorphins running around too. Do you have a picture of your wedding dress? Maybe you should post it where you can see it every day to remind yourself of how great you want to look on that special day. You did it once and you're back here again, so I just know you'll be successful.

                Re: Hey!

Hi, katy! I'm so glad you came on by!

You know, motivation has to be more than an event. My goodness. Life is an event in itself!

To stay motivated, sometimes first you have to make it past that first hurdle. And then the next. And then before you know it, you're leaping over them! Sometimes just making it past induction is enough.

What motivates you to lose this weight?

Why do you sabotage your efforts?

When does an eating episode take place, and what usually triggers it?

How can you prepare for the next event which might trigger another eating episode?

I have posted essay after essay about what has worked for me, why I've been a failure on this way of eating, and why you're worth the effort of weight loss. You can find them here.

I've perfected failure, sanctified sabotage, and wasted 22 years of my life in not doing this the right way. You don't have to make those same mistakes I made.

Luckily for us, this forum exists! It's not for the perfect, but for the recuperating. We'll all make it!

                  Hi Katy,

I am new here, only been here a couple of weeks, but not new to Atkins. I am one of the 'old-timers' who followed his diet back in 1973 when there was very little help in the way of low carb alternate foods.

Congratulations on your wedding! I am getting re-married on Dec 30 and I know I won't get to goal by then, but I want to be as slim as I can get by then so I can enjoy the pictures. I don't want to cringe at them like I did when I saw my summer vacation pictures - ugggh!!!!! There's a really good 'fat' one in there I can use as my 'before' pic when I have lost enough weight to post a 'during' pic (10 more pounds, I think). At age 46, it just doesn't come off like it did when I was in my 20's and 30's *sigh*

                  Anyways, glad to met you!

                    Hi there

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding. I got married last July 04 and lost lots of weight in time for it. I didn't make it to goal but to keep motivated, you have to remember that you don't suddenly look great at goal, you look better and better on the way towards it. I look at my wedding photos now and am so glad that I did it.

                    Good luck and speak soon
