I live in the northern part of Galveston County and we are under voluntary evacuation orders and may become mandatory by Thu, depending on which way Rita turns. I have a friend who will take me and my son and our 2 cats in up in Shreveport, Louisiana - no hotels to be found with 16,000 Katrina evacuees still staying in hotels, and shelters won't take you with pets. Please keep me and my family in your prayers if this storm strengthens and heads for us. Thanks.

Sara, I will be leaving my home also Thurs afternoon. I think I will be heading to a state park going west on 10. I have a friend who lives in Fl. But I am beginnig to think 10 going east will be impassible. Be safe and check in as soon as you can~Lauren~
