  • Week 3: No weight lost, no inches lost.

I re-started three weeks ago. The first week I lost 3 pounds which were, no doubt, water-weight loss. The past two weeks I have lost no weight, and my measurements are the same so I'm not even losing inches as others have stated happens to them even if the scale doesn't budge.

    This isn't working for me.

Realistically, how long do I give this before I either give up and accept my weight or try something else?

How frustrating! Even though you are probably feeling better for eating this way (I'm just assuming here, but most of us on the Board feel better for eating this way) you still want to lose weight. No matter how much we say it's for our health, we still wanna look hot, right?

Have you posted your menu in the Review my Menu forum? I'm not an expert since I'm still trying to figure out my own triggers and stallers, but maybe someone there can point out something you may be missing.

Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to say, but just hang in there. With all the people on this Board I'm sure we can help you figure this out.

How was it the first time around?

Hang in there for a little bit -- I wonder if there are plateaus this early, maybe you are due for a big losing streak. There HAS to be an answer, even if it's the one we all don't want to hear, the one about the "golden shot."

Re: Week 3: No weight lost, no inches lost.

Do not be down. I have been on the Atkins, 2nd time around since July 6th, and I am VERY slow to move the scale or the tape measure. As of today, I have lost only 9 lbs and only 2 inches on the tape measure. But I finally had a little light at the end of my long tunnel the other day. I laid down and could feel my hip bones for the first time in 2 years!

It's the little steps that keep you going. Do not give up! Once you get in the "zone", bread, starch and other such carbs will not even look good anymore.

Have your menu reviewed, you could be shocked like I was the things that are no-nos. Also sign up on www.Fitday.com this was a BIG help to me, it is FREE. You put your daily menu in and it shows you hidden carbs in some foods which you had no idea. You can also chart your progress.

Are you excersiing? I didn't for weeks and have just started doing very little with weights, but I already FEEL much better about my health and myself.

        YOU CAN DO IT!

I would keep at it. I had the same results. I restarted on July 28 and have so far lost 7.2 lbs. It is very slow coming off but I just stick to it and usually only lose 1/2 to 1 lb. at a time and it is usually weeks in between. The inches either don't move or move slowly too. You are not alone.

I would agree with LadyinRed and have some one give your menu a look thru to see if there is something you are missing.... just in case.

Be sure to check out the sticky at the top of the forum on losing slowly the second time around.

I was my experience that after my initial loss after 2 weeks that I hit a plateau and lost nothing for a month. And it was truely frustrating. Then I began to lose again. Everyones body is different and reacts in their own way.

Even if you are losing slowly, in time at least you are losing and realistically as long as you are following the program correctly, exercising and getting your water and supps and feeling great a slow loss isnt a bad thing as you are learning to change your lifestyle and when the weight comes off it will stay off.

Re: Week 3: No weight lost, no inches lost.

I only lose in the 7-10 days around TOM, sometimes a big whoosh (w/induction), small whoosies after that and then the scale doesn't budge for 3-4 weeks, no matter what excercise or lack thereof I'm doing. We all have different patterns esp thjose of us who have been on Atkins before.

I would suggest, if you feel good on Atkins, stay on it for a few more weeks, at least, and see what happens. For me, this time around I'm not using any sugar substitute except for a bit in salad dressings, coleslaw. I think this has made a huge difference. See if there is something that you can be just a bit more vigilant w/ and see if that makes a difference.

              Good Luck!

I'm giving it one more week. I'm back up to 163.5 - just a pound from where I started over three weeks ago! So if I don't lose anything this week, I'm moving on....

Soon2beslim - I am exactly the same!! I may lose half a pound or a pound on the other three weeks and then have a whooshie when TOM starts - never heard of anyone else having this before.

Nutri Nut - I feel for you - it must be so frustrating. I would definitely post your menus for a few days. Hang on in there.

Re: Week 3: No weight lost, no inches lost.

I am hoping to make entries into FitDay.com later this afternoon or evening. So far today I have had

Breakfast - Vitamin World protein shake (sweetened with Stevia) w/ 8 oz. low carb "milk." Total carbs I believe are 3 g. Calories: not sure. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to fix breakfast, so I figured this would be better than going without.

Lunch - 6.5 oz. of grilled steak tips w/ side salad (about 1 c.) with blue cheese dressing. Total carbs are about 4 g. Calories: 503.

                      Hi NN

Is there any way you could cut out that shake at breakfast? I totally stalled the last time I did Atkins and found it was because of the shakes I was having in the morning. Two days after I cut them out, I lost 5 pounds - seriously!

By the way, if I was in a real hurry I'd have some cheese or a boiled egg (would keep a couple in the fridge at all times) Good luck

That's the first time I've had a shake, so that can't be the reason I haven't lost weight in almost 4 weeks.

I"d still cut out all artificial sweeteners and fake stuff (even low carb milk), those things can be deadly for some people...

I normally eat eggs for breakfast. This is the first time in a month I've had a shake (sweetened with Stevia and not Splenda), so that could not account for the lack of weight loss in a month's time.

I do eat salad and meat for lunch and meat and a salad and veggie (if I'm hungry) for dinner.
