As I mentioned in the "checking in" thread, I've been thinking about doing one last big carbo-palooza before I really start up with Atkins. I sorta started last Friday, doing almost Induction level since I didn't have much in the house and I got an unpleasant financial surprise or two between setting the 16th as my start date and actually starting. I did anyway, cuz I'm gaining a couple pounds a week otherwise and I'm really uncomfortable. But I figured, after checking in here, that I didn't eat eggs and tuna for a week and get into ketosis just to blow it all on real carbs.
The disappointment of gaining a couple pounds at the end of the week is enough, though, to want to baby myself a little. So what I decided to do was to go on a "maintenance" type of Atkins regimen for a day or two, and then be ready, with some ketostix I just got this morning, to do some serious low-carbing.
I also went to the grocery store and got stuff like sour cream, MEAT, peanuts, veggies, lots of cheese, etc.. I also stopped at a couple garage sales and got some in-between "fat" jeans, sorely needed. Bad thing about them, though, is that they ARE fat jeans. Elastic waist!!!! I got used to wearing REAL jeans after being size 20 but this is humiliating. Not to mention I've taken to wearing my shirts outside my pants, again. I really need help staying on this WOE. Plus, I can't get my engagement/wedding set off my pudgy little fingers to clean the stone. Having them cut off is OUT of the question. I put them in a drawer for over 11 years following my last (surprise) pregnancy so it's only in the last 2 years I could even wear them.
Thanks for listening to this Whine-fest. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh, yeah, I almost cried when I realized the recipe section is still down, but I found the ongoing recipe thread and found some good-sounding stuff, like baked cauliflower, pumpkin souffle, and more muffin recipes. I've been cleaning all day and haven't taken the time to bake, but I will tonight.
Angus steak and hot bacon cole slaw for dinner. I splurged on low-carb ice cream for dessert, though I know it's a "frankenfood". Just my way of having that last carbo fling before I get serious. I've been underemployed for about a year and a half, maintaining most of that time, and this was my first week to have good stuff. I may even take my family out to a restaurant tomorrow for a real change!!
Feels good to be able to make ends meet --not the ends of my double-wide jeans.

It didn't sound whiney to me at all. Your last carb fling is pretty controlled and thought out, I think you'll be fine. Ya know...Fin made a good point...you might want to look into Boot Camp...but time is running out to apply.
