  • Left Boot Camp Already

Well, I decided to leave boot camp today already. Not that I couldn't commit to induction but I don't have the time to commit to the daily assignments. It is time consuming. I am trying to get ready for a camping trip, leaving on Thurs. morning for four days.

Another reason is that I feel like I get more support on STAC that from my drill sgt. This is a wonderful group.

I wish all others in Boot Camp good luck!

If you are interested, you could always email Perry and ask him of that is an option.

There weren't very many people in boot camp. Terry is right. Perry is the one that you need to PM. I doubt that they will take replacements now since BC started on Monday but it is worth a try.

              Re: Left Boot Camp Already

Saw a "boot camp" thread in another forum and got curious.

I'll save someone the trouble of looking me up. The current Camp session is in progress and it would not be fair to the Instructors or recruits to add anyone new at this point.

Although the "recruit" count is lower than other camps it works out perfectly because they will get more individualized instruction. I too, wish the current class success and am sorry to see you leave so early, pjade.

                Your not alone Pjade.

For personal issues on the homefront and with school, there's no time like I had hoped I would have to devote to BC. It IS a great challenge and I wish all those who are in the best in being ultimate losers.

But, I'll be rocking on here with ya, Pjade, and fellow STAC members when I get a chance to pop in!

Well, I am in good company! I do love this STAC group. I am still losing inches and weight, although it is slow going but I do feel great.

I wish I had the time to devote to BC but I have been extremely busy with a few personal issues right now. I will be popping in and out too.

It DOES take quite a commitment to stick with BC. Good Luck to you both, STAC buddies are always here for you!

It is well documented how much time and effort goes into Camp (for both recruits and the dedicated instructors) and I believe that our FAQ on Camp and the application form spell that out.

                          You are Making a Committment.

Committment means you are agreeing to do something, or not do something. In this case you agree to a clean induction by the book, not how you feel like it.

You agree to do the tasks assigned for boot camp recruits. The tasks are not things dreamed up just to keep someone busy, but they are related to this WOE, and designed to make a person think about how they got where they are now, where they want to be in the future, and how to get there.

There are mods, and other dedicated people who work hard to make each boot camp happen. It takes planning, and organizing, and it takes time. Each DS, DA or mod who is staffing boot camp is giving of their time to pay it forward. We do it because we have been helped and we want to give something back to help others. The people who staff boot camp have experience, they have either been where you are at, and made goal or they are still making that part of the journey and so can empathize with you when you reach those plateaus or stalls along the way, when temptation rears its' ugly head in all of its forms. You will not find better people anywhere to help you than the dedicated ADBB boot camp staff. There may be some equally good, but not better.

We ask for potential recruits to PM the boot camp commanders an enrollment form that can be found here on the induction forum. Read it don't just mark yes for everything because you want to be in boot camp. Take the time to read the questions, think about them before you mark yes.

Take the time to PM some of the ones you see on the board who have a boot camp graduate, boot camp sargent, boot camp assistant logo in their signature. Ask them what boot camp is like, particularly talk to those who have graduated. They will tell you it is hard work, it is not a trip to a spa. You will not be pampered in camp. We are not there to pamper you and make you feel okay if you cheat. Most people who apply to boot camp do so because they have had trouble doing a clean induction, or hit some plateau or other problem and need a boost to work through it. A large number apply because they have had trouble doing a clean induction on their own, and recognize they have some things to learn about this WOE and need more accountability.

Hi Everyone, I would like to make my sincere apologies for those who thought the comment I made about my drill sgt. was rude. In no way did I intend to bash my drill sgt. I guess I should have explained myself better........I am truly sorry.

The drill sgt. has taken on a huge responsibility to take on the boot camp members and I truly commend them for doing so. I had no problem with my drill sgt. whatsoever. I could not take on their job and couldn't even do my own job assignments due to time constraints. I have no idea how the drill sgts. handle it all. They deserve a hand.

They have several members to attend to and do a great job at it. I was trying to compliment the STAC members on their support because there are so many active STAC members that you will get a response any time of day. We are from all over the world so we pretty much get instant response. I really enjoy that and I get support just from lurking sometimes. The posts really help me out alot and I can do it on my own time constraints. This is wonderful.

I just didn't have the time to give my drill sgt. that they deserve and wish the other BC members good luck.

Former drill sgt............if you are out there, I apoligize if you took it this way too!

I hope my STAC buddies can forgive me!
