Re: Do you stay on plan when you go on vacation?

We went to Hawaii for 2 weeks in June and I stayed on plan. I did eat some things I do not normally eat at home, such as Atkins Morning Start bars for breakfast some mornings and also for meal replacements on the plane and I bought 1 oz. packages of almonds to take on the plane with me, too. For lunch I would have lunchmeat and cheese roll-ups. Dinners out were usually a chicken caesar salad, cobb salad, or steak and steamed veggies and salad. I wish I liked fish as there was an amazing selection of fish dishes, but I don't really like it. I actually ended up losing a pound on vacation and when I got home I had a major whoosh and lost I think about 8 pounds that first week home. I never felt deprived. I did have one small piece of Hawaiian pineapple on a boat trip to Lanai. That was the only real "cheat" I had.

I found it easy to stay on plan and am so glad that I did.
    Have a wonderful trip.

I would be delighted if I lost a pound that week - good on you!

Luckily, I love fish and so will probably eat lots and lots of it that week.

      Thanks again everyone.

Re: Do you stay on plan when you go on vacation?

Well, I am currently out camping at the Oregon dunes and am still staying on plan. We got here yesterday and will be here through Sunday. I pretty much planned out my meals although, I can imagine it would be harder on a real vacation where you had to eat out all the time. Just choose wisely.

There is one tempting thing going on here at the campgrounds though. Tomorrow night, there is an ice cream social with all the extras for sundaes and such. It is $2 for all you can eat. If that isn't tempting to someone, especially my DH who still eats regular foods. One of my camping friends has some low carb ice cream made with Splenda and some diet root beer. She said if I got tempted and just needed something, I could make a root beer float. Hmmmmmmmm.................I hope I am not tempted.
