  • stay on induction or go OWL?

hi everyone. I haven't done much posting on this board, but I have been pretty good at spying over the past year or so. anyway, I just restarted atkins 2 weeks ago (after almost a year of falling badly off the wagon), but I'm faced with a mini-problem and I thought maybe you guys could help me out.

here's the thing. in 13 days on induction, I've lost 13 pounds and I'm thrilled about that, but I have about 60 more pounds to lose. My question is about whether to stay on induction or move up the OWL ladder. I feel confident that I have the motivation to stay on induction for a couple months if it helps me lose even the slightest bit quicker (and no, I'm not setting unrealistic goals, I am planning on sticking with this for life). but I've heard conflicting opinions about staying vs. going, and I'm not sure what would be best. I did read the book, but my stuff's in storage right now, and I can't recall what Dr. A said about it. Did anyone here who stayed on induction a while stop losing until they moved to OWL? I appreciate any feedback you guys have. Thanks a bunch.

P.S. I have some pretty badass cats myself (expecially my big black baby Onyx), and they aren't afraid of any siamese.
Sorry everyone. I've had to abandon Atkins. After slipping up, I gained back everything and more. I fully believe in and support Atkins, I know it works, but it's too hard for me. I'm following my own plan now, exercising more, eating less in general and healthier, still focusing more on veggies and fruits and whole grains and much less processed junk and bad carbs. I still visit here occasionally, so I will keep my stats listed here when I do. I wish everyone the best on this program or any others that work for you.

11-10-07: 210/146/125 - more than 60 pounds lost this year!

If I were you, I'd move into OWL, simply because you want to take the time to discover what foods you can do, and what foods disagree with you. Especially with your metabolism being so high you do NOT want to risk taking off the remainder of the weight so fast you don't have time to adjust to the higher-glycemic foods you will be able to enjoy as you move closer to maintenance!

Granted, that's just my opinion, and I've also got a very high metabolism!

Way to go on your great success so far, and I hope we'll see you around more now!

      Hi

Congratulations on your great weightloss! I would recommend moving to OWL. You could consider doing a modified OWL (as I do) which is where you move up the rungs but keep to the 20g daily carbs. That way, you get lots of variety but still reasonably fast weight loss. It will slow down, even if you are on induction.
