  • I had a TERRIBLE few days, but I'm proud of myself

When I get stressed out or upset, my first reflex is to raid the fridge, cupboard, bakery, whatever. Well, I have had a few VERY stressful days, for a number of different reasons, and today when I was crying my eyes out at my Grandma's (where I grew up), I immediately went to the fridge out of habit...and you know what? I slammed it shut!!!! I have not gone off plan since I started it. My life may seem to be crumbling around me....but at least I'm not going to weigh 215lbs ever again!

Tomorrow is weigh-in day....I hope that the scales are good to me, because nothing illegal has touched my lips, and neither have sunflower seeds, diet coke, or coffee.

Sorry you have been having a bumpy ride recently, but very pleased you slammed the fridge door shut. That's good news and points to a brighter future.

      Keep with it!

Re: I had a TERRIBLE few days, but I'm proud of myself

You know, whenever my cravings seem to hit a high, and I'm the crabbiest, and I want to kick a stuffed puppy, if I hold out, it seems I always have a loss the next morning!

I think this is our body's way of desperately doing what it can to hold onto this weight. The fat cells have been SO conditioned through the ages of man to hang onto fat during famine and for childbirth, that when it comes to pass that our body detects an imminent loss, it will do what it can to protect itself--even if it means jacking up the estrogen...which jacks up the cravings... which, in turn, protects the fat cells.

Devious little boogers, our female fat cells really are.

Mmm, Cleo, how would that apply to us males doing Atkins?

Re: I had a TERRIBLE few days, but I'm proud of myself

All males have estrogen and all females have testosterone.

The levels of either also help determine our body shapes. As an example: apple shapes tend to have more testosterone, be they men or women... pear shapes, more estrogen. This is because the pear shape of the woman ensures fertility and the ability to carry a baby even through a famine.

So get in touch with your feminine side, lab.

Er... just not at the board. That could be potentially awkward.
