  • Day 2 - Temptation Begins

Another day following Atkins. Maybe I'm too far removed from when I did it last time but I don't remember being so tempted. It seems like everywhere I look I wish I could eat something with that sugary goodness. I don't see myself giving in, but what's with all the temptation? Geesh.

    Your body is de-toxing.

You've effectively gone from an American who ate in excess of 200-250 pounds of sugar in one year alone to someone who will eat nary a fraction of a percentage of that.

    Your body is retaliating.

The worst your cravings, the better! This means your dependency on sugar was so great that your freedom from it will be all the more (pardon the pun) sweet.

        something with that sugary goodness
Don't you mean "big butt on a plate"? or Perhaps, "heart attack in a cellophane package"? Maybe "unhappiness on a stick"?

Hang in there, Matt! You're already too far in to shoot yourself in the foot!! Change the language you're using to describe the things that have landed you in the boat you're in. It's NOT "sugary goodness". It's poison to you right now!

Hi Matt! Good for you making these last 2 days without caving in to the sugary temptations! As each day goes by and those pounds and inches melt away it will be easier to resist. You deserve to be a healthier and more fit you! I tell myself, "Yes...that does look tasty...but I chose not to eat it." If I'm really in a pickle I take a good look at some of my before pictures and ask "Do I want to look like that again?" Heck no! Keep a positive attitude and keep telling yourself you can do this because we all know you can and we're here for you!!!

            Hi Matt

The first couple of days are the worst... then you get in to ketosis and your cravings melt away (as well as your body fat).

I used to be a carb junky and very rarely crave anything sweet now. In fact, I am so sensitive to sugar now that I had a glass of dry white wine yesterday and it tasted really sweet!

You can do it. Have plenty of high fat/protein foods today so that you don't feel hungry at all. Try and think of something really delicious that you can cook for dinner so that you feel happy to be on the plan.

            Good luck x
