  • Hello, glad I found you!

Hello, I am new here. This is my second time on Atkins. My brother had lost 65 lbs on Atkins, he is a different man now. He jogs, rides his bike, hikes and feels great! So I tried and was on it for 1 month last year, I lost about 20 lbs. The first 2 weeks I lost 14 lbs! Yet something happened and I quit and slowly faded away.......

I have 4 children and a husband (just a big child) and 2 puppies. I recently graduated in Business Administration, so I have been doing the interview, resume thing looking for a career thing. You know buying new cloths, and getting a hair cut, but still not liking the mirror.

Recently I have lost 6 1/2 lbs on my own, by eliminating most sweets and pop and coffee. So I know I can do it, it is just the sticking to it..

Yet I keep thinking about how wonderful I felt on Atkins. My achne went away as did my insomnia and depression. I had more energy and it felt so good. I have no idea why I stopped. Yet I am tired of feeling bad, so I found you all and I am hopping I can make it work this time. I am glad to be here and hope I can also give encouragement too.

Re: Hello, glad I found you!

Well I did have a question. Last time when I started I got tired and I felt out of it most the time. Is there something I was doing wrong. I did loose alot of wieght except I hate that feeling for the first week. Perhaps I did not drink enough water? Perhaps I did not eat enough protien? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

I am on an antabiotic now, I have 1 more day left should I wait till I am done with this antabiotic or can I start already tomorrow? Ooooops that was 2 questions....

Re: Hello, glad I found you!

It's called induction flu caused by the withdrawal from carbs. There's nothing you can do about it but it shouldn't last too long.

        I would start right away.

                    Are dressings allowed on induction?

Sounds like you're off to a great start.

Dressings are allowed...watch out for the sugar content and count the carbs. Usually the white, creamy dressing are lower in carbs than the thin ones. A good dressing would be about 1 carb per tablespoon.

You should use fitday.com to keep track of what you're eating and the percentages. You should aim for 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carb for your total daily menu.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I just checked the frig and I do have ranch and cuces!!! Funny that that excites me now! I am going to the store today and have a good list started. My husband is very supportive and I told him our grocery bill could be a bit more from now on.

I did weigh myself this morning :rolleyes yet I am excited to weigh myself next week! There is so much good reading here , I have learnt so much more this time!

Ohhhhh and I have drank 3 glasses of water so far this morning! That is usually my daily consumption! I am hoping this isn't me by the end of the day with my water

Welcome, Manita. Good to have you hear. About the induciton flu... I find that I get it on day three or four. I feel terrible for a day or two and then I feel absolutely wonderful. Push through it, don't cheat, and you will be better than ever.

Guess what I did? No I didn't cave and drink that double caffiene coffee I so love! I joined fitday, that is really a cool place. I am glad you told me about it. So far I am at 54% fat and 4?% of protien, I have 11 carbs so far. I have drank 6 glasses of water now. I don't think I have seen the shower curtains so much in one day!

I was getting a headache and remembered that my mom said celery and cucumbers help. So I had a stalk of celery and in 10 minutes it was gone! Thank you all for the help today.

Not sure what to have for super. I know I will have broccoli... hmmmm
