  • Atkins for the billionth time

Hey ya'll! I'm starting induction again today for like the billionth time! I can't seem to stay on it when my honey comes home from offshore. He works 7 & 7. Those seven days he is at work, is not too hard. When he's home....yuck. We both love the same foods. Our thing when he comes home is sushi rolls. LOVE THEM! We have a grocery store here that has them ready made. Anyhow, he gets me started on this Atkins diet, which I protested for a good 6 months. I was doing fine the way I was. I would eat what I wanted and how much. Which usually wasn't very much. To support him, I get on atkins with him....then he gets off. And it doesn't bother him at all. Now it seems that since I've done induction forever, when I get off of it I gain like a buttload of weight. I was about 178 when we started. I got down to 167 and now I'm at 181.5. I really want to get to 160 now that he's got me going. It doesn't seem to hard to lose once I do it, it's just staying interested when he comes home. SO, in hopes that I can do it this time I figured rather than reading, I would share my little goofy story. I hope joining this message board will help make up where I lack.

I had actually been on induction for 2 days, but ate some cookies last night. So, here we go again. I haven't done measurements yet, and I don't know how to get my picture on here, but I'll definitely get my measurements in to show my progress (if there will be any)

    Thanks for the support guys!

    Have an awesome day!

You have come to the right place as there are many people here to help you thru. Especially thru that first few weeks of induction. Some may even have helpful tips on how to do Atkins when hubby is home.

Come on everybody ...... lets give her some of your best tips......

    1. There are many induction/atkins friendly meals that are good for the whole family at: <http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/recipes.html> Try some out next time hubby is in town. You wont even feel like you are eating differently.

Maybe if you moved on to OWL where you could introduce different foods gradually you might find it easier to stay on track?
As we are supposed to lose our last 5-10 pounds in the premaintenance phaseand you want to lose about 20 in total you will need to start to climb the OWL ladder soon anyway to be able to find your CCLL before reaching goal.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Hi there!! If you have trouble with nighttime sweet cravings when your hubby is snacking on chips and popcorn (like me ), you should consider trying some of the sweet Atkins snacks. They worked great for me. They are very satisfying and won't mess you up. I think it's better to use these crutches than to fall off the wagon all together. Also, you could encourage your man to help by giving HIM some sort of incentive when you reach a goal. GOOD LUCK and stay strong!!
        Peace, Jess~

Or make yourself some great savoury snacks - like cheese crackers or flax crackers with cream cheese or ham/cheese rollups or devilled eggs or . . . . so many to choose from it is making me hungry!!

              Hi there

If you could just get through about three days on induction, you should find the sweet cravings will vanish.

It is difficult when your hubby likes all the carb stuff. I have the same here! I cook Atkins friendly foods and then add on some carbs for him - potatoes etc.

He is right behind me so doesn't try and tempt me to divert from plan.

              Good luck xx

Re: Atkins for the billionth time

Don't feel bad. I can't tell you how many times i've restarted Atkins.
I was down to a 49 lb. loss as of July. After my high school reunion I stopped Atkins and regained alot of weight.

I'm on my 2nd week of induction and have lost 7.5 lbs. so far. We are having a black tie xmas party on December 10th. I want to get back to where I was at when I went to my reunion. I felt and looked pretty good. Then in March we're going on a cruise to Mexico so i'll hopefully continue to lose the weight.

I haven't cheated with any sweets which is my big weakness but the other night I had some edamame beans. Not a horrible cheat, but not on induction nonetheless.

Good luck to ya! You're not alone.

Re: Atkins for the billionth time

Girl, I probably hold the record for on and off Atkins! Ask anybody here. They probably run when they see my posts by now. I am going thru induction yet a-freakin-gain, starting tomorrow. My problem is that when I get stressed, the first thing I reach for is sweets. Ice cream, candy, cake, you name it. Thing is I could take it or leave it any other time but hit me with a stressor, and I am down for the count.

I was reading a article out of Walmart's Looking Good magazine (great mag!) that is all about weight loss and inspirational stories on women that have lost weight. And there is an article about getting back on your chosen weight loss plan. Excellent article! Anyway, it said that if you keep cheating, maybe the reasons you went on are not strong enough and you need to find a way to make it strong enough not to deter you from your chosen path. That is so true of me and probably most of us here. So maybe you could look at that too. We are here for you. Maybe you can have a chat with him and tell him how hard it is for you to stay on when he eats junk food? Or maybe you can make sure that you dont have anything you could binge on in the house when he comes home and tell him to help you out?
