  • I did alot of figuring today! LOL

    Good Morning Fellow Atkineers!!!

Ok so I fell off the wagon for about a week and ended up gaining about 5 pounds So last Monday I was weighing in at 144 and today I weighed in at 136. So I lost 8 pounds this week 14 pounds lost so far! Can we say whooshie? LOL Anyway I'm happy to be back on track. I not only am losing weight I am also losing some inches. I am down to a 30" waist. I know my jeans are really loose and baggy and they are a 14. I did figure out that I am a Size 12 pants now. But another thing I figured out is I also at some point in time lost an inch off my height. I have no idea when that happened. I haven't measured my height in years. But what that means is I need to lose more but I'm sticking with the 115 goal. That's what I was 6 years ago before I got married and I was happy with that. My actual goal will be to get back into a pair of jeans I had from then that I still have. I refused to get rid of them, swearing that I WOULD get back into them and I WILL! I also figured out that I need to lose 3.5 pounds per week to lose the rest by Thanksgiving. That was my own personal goal. Then after Thanksgiving (Oh the carbs!) I will hop back on and lose whatever I gained. I just feel like if I do reach my goal by Thanksgiving I deserve a reward! Thanks to all of you for your unconditional support.

    Hello suzy
Looks like you are back on track for sure
Have you read Cleo's thread about staying on Atkins over Thanksgiving (and any other speciall occasions)
    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...t=thanksgiving
and the one posted earlier about celebrational occasions
    http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...t=thanksgiving

Thinking of going off plan as a 'treat' seems to get many members into trouble eating-wise as they find it hard to get back on track and I would hate to hear you don't manage to continue your Atkins journey easily after your 'treat'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks, Elizellen, for posting that thread and the other one, too. You rock! I had forgotten the other thread and will remember it now.

suzygirl-- does the cocaine addict reward their hard efforts with a line of the white stuff?

Does the alcoholic reward her efforts with a margarita?

Does the gambling addict reward himself with a few hands of poker after years of sobriety?

So why should the sugar addict reward all the hard effort with a high-carb-fest?

If you learn one thing from me, learn this: the reason induction is so hard is because we are going through withdrawals, just as any addict goes through withdrawals. We get cranky. We get sick. We get the shakes. We get tired. We get crazy sometimes.

      All symptoms of withdrawals.

And if that isn't enough to sway you, last year I took a day for Thanksgiving as a 'reward'...it took me one month to get rid of that weight. One month.

So, ask yourself: are you really rewarding yourself by giving into the very thing which has kept your senses dulled for so many years? What could you look to instead for comfort and for reward this holiday season? How about a new Thanksgiving outfit?

The kleptomaniac doesn't reward clean behavior by stealing a new purse.

Don't steal your own success and call it reward.

congrats on getting back on the wagon, and your weight loss so far.

but I have to agree with the others. rewarding yourself with high carb food is not a good habit to get into. it is easy to say you'll hop back on, but another to actually do it. why would you want to derail your success and have to go back to having problems zipping your pants and feeling bloated and stuffed, even if it is just temporary?

Thanksgiving is really not that hard to get through while not going crazy. I did it fine last thanksgiving. I loaded up the turkey and green beans and made some specialty items so I wouldn't feel deprived. I made stuffing with low carb bread, "cauliflower mashed potatos", attempted to make gravy which was watery but still tasted good, and even a low carb pumpkin pie. it certainly wasn't a great meal for Atkins, but a **** of a lot better than the alterative. I didn't have cravings and I didn't gain, and I felt great that I got through a huge family holiday with tons of people telling me I should just pig out. I did it for me and was so glad I did.

anyway, the point is, if you can, try to stick with goal rewards like fitting into those jeans or going to buy a new one in that great small size, going for a spa day, or buying that dvd you've been wanting. maybe even dinner at your favorite steakhouse (skipping the bread and potatos of course) if you feel you really need a food treat. you will feel so much better if you do. you can do this!
Sorry everyone. I've had to abandon Atkins. After slipping up, I gained back everything and more. I fully believe in and support Atkins, I know it works, but it's too hard for me. I'm following my own plan now, exercising more, eating less in general and healthier, still focusing more on veggies and fruits and whole grains and much less processed junk and bad carbs. I still visit here occasionally, so I will keep my stats listed here when I do. I wish everyone the best on this program or any others that work for you.
