  • Just saying hi ...

    Hi,

I'm starting Atkins again today (for the 4th time - i think!) - and I just thought I'd post a message to try and get in the habit of making regular contributions!!

This WOE has worked very well for me in the past - I very nearly reached my target weight about a year ago, but then I went on holiday and started my steady decline from there. I'm pretty much back to where I originally started now.

If i'm honest, drink seems to be my biggest problem (not in a drinking problem kind of way I should add!!). I just find it very difficult socialising with friends without joining them in having a drink. Lager is the main offender - but I have been known to knock back the odd Vodka Red Bull (which I imagine is crammed full of carbs).

I have a new motivation now though, as my wife and I are expecting our first child in a matter of weeks and I'm really trying hard to change a number of things in my life, with my weight being one of the most important.

Hopefully you'll be hearing more from me over the coming months!!

      Hi John,

Why don't you start a journal in the journal forum? You can post there whenever you want without starting new threads. Lots of people post their menus and exercise plans so they can look back on their journey. Other people just go there to gab or write down random thoughts. I do more of the latter. lol. Friday I had a chocolate crisis at work so I vented my frustrations in my journal and sure enough someone came by to give me encouragement. In any event, WELCOME!

Hi, John! How are you doing? Welcome to ADBB! Congratulations on your little bitty baby!

Some of the things that motivate me are the challenges here at ADBB and this forum. I love the 6-week challenge in the "Exercise Challenges" board because it keeps me accountable and motivated! Also having a goal and shooting for it makes a difference and that's why I'm in a Challenge to lose as much as I can by New Year's Eve with about 25 others!

Whatever motivates you, there's something to fill that for you here at ADBB!

          Welcome!

Thanks for the replies - very encouraging!

Things are going well so far - i'm well into day 2 and no problems so far ... I've been feeling a little tired but from experience that tends to die down after a few days.

The next step is to get back to the gym ... I don't think I've been since Febuary!! I seem to have placed a mental block on it I think - every time I think about going I think up 10 other things I could be doing. I've earmarked tomorrow as my first trip though (it would be tonight but I have ante natal to attend - and football to watch when I get back ... see, excuses again!!).

Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

                  Hi John,
I love to socialize with a drink in my hand. I really love to have a drink and watch a movie in the evenings. My husband travels a lot. I really enjoy wine and imported beer, BUT I had to leave that behind. Now, when I just havta, havta have something to drink I have vodka and a diet sprite. Neither have carbs. I know someone is going to tell us what IS wrong with it. I do know that the alcohol takes a long time to burn, but when I really want something that is what I have...
