Today is going to be a very hard day for me on Atkins. I'm on my 3rd week back on Atkins. I've lost 7 lbs. so far. Not as much as I would have liked, but it's a loss. Anyways, today work brought in breakfast. Breakfast burritos, sausage muffins, smoothies, etc. I got two egg & sausage muffins and tossed the muffins. For lunch we're going to Buffallo Wild Wings. I know that I can be good there. Salad and wings. Then we have a big meeting this afternoon @ House of Blues. Afterwards there is food and an open bar. I don't know if I should maybe have a glass of wine or a Michelob Ultra Light beer or stay away from the alcohol completely. Too many temptations. I wanted a smoothie so much but I didn't. It was almost liked a drug that I needed to have. I felt sort of a withdrawal thing. I'm a little down but i'm sure i'll be proud of myself for sticking to this WOL. I'm just hoping that I can stay away from everything else the rest of the day! I just know that I want to lose as much weight as I can by December 10th which is our black tie xmas party. Still don't have a dress yet though but have plenty of time

Stick with it sweetie! Just remember that ONE bite can undo all the work you've accomplished in the last week and next week too. That's enough to keep me on track. How would you feel if you were able to lose another 6-10lbs by that date your working toward? It's doable if you're a good girl!27 F 5' 7"

You did/are doing FAB, girl! We have an someone here who at one time who only lost 60 pounds in a year! You're already ahead of the curve. This is a change for life, and while we taste that sweet victory of success on Atkins, that doesn't mean you can go fondling that smoothie... and I'm glad you're not!
Your brain computer is saying, "everytime I go out, I eat this" and so it fights you to continue the behavior because it is programmed to think something's not right because you didn't have the smoothie. You are now re-programming your brain to react in a wholly new way!
Traditions and doing what we've always done are some of the most powerful reasons we end up falling off the wagon. Know in advance that you are breaking your brain computer function and inserting a new routine... it takes some prep-work mentally, but it's worth it! And anyway, times with people is about the fun and the people. I never realized until later that all my functions were who brought what food and spent in a carb-induced amnesia!

This is what I usually tell myself and most of the time it works, "Five minutes after you eat/drink it (whatever "it" is for you), you probably won't remember it anyway. So, why do that to yourself." If you feel the need to just have something in your hand while at the HOB in order to feel sociable, then I would suggest keeping a wine glass in hand and try all their different bottled waters from around the world. They should have several different ones on hand. You might even find a favorite in the bunch. I never thought there was a difference in water until I started experimenting. Also, keep in mind how GREAT you will feel at the XMas party when you are in a smaller size and somebody tries to get you under the mistletoe because you are looking so hot. Stick with it girl and don't stop. Week three was the hardest for me too, but push through. This too shall pass.

Thanks for everyone's support. I won't be kissing anyone under the mistletoe @ the xmas party except my husband.
It's @ the Wynn here in Vegas and i'm completely excited. We don't go to many formal affairs. I feel like i'm going to prom all over again. I will take the suggestions and drink water tonight. At least that is what my intention will be!!!!

I've lived in Vegas since 1994. My hubby works @ the Venetian. He's a bellman. There is lots to do here in Vegas. The buffets are actually great when you're on Atkins. Lots of meat choices, salads, and most buffets have sf jello.Restarted Atkins 5/1/06

Buffalo Wild Wings? House of Blues? At Mandalay Bay? You must be in Vegas, too! I actually live in Pahrump, we are in the process of selling our house now..in Silverado Ranch.
The good news...Buffalo Wild Wings has all sorts of yummy salads and stuff...AND...if I remember correctly, they dont use breading on their wings?????

And every time someone offers you a drink just think to yourself - if I drink alcohol it will take my body a few hours to use that up as fuel instead of burning my body fat!! I have found that thought has kept me from haivng any booze for the last 28 months!!
And if you do 'cave' and take a drinkie or two - make sure you drink at least that much extra water before you go to sleep to stop you getting dehydrated.

We're not going to Buffalo Wild Wings after all for lunch. We're either going to the buffet @ Mandalay Bay or Razzle's which is a coffee shop. Either one I can make work out for me. what the rungs mean to me:
rung 1 - more veggies
rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
rung 4 - berries, melon
rung 5 - wine -
rung 6 - beans, hummus
rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
(on to pre-maintenance)

You're right buffets are great for Atkins unless you're a dessert addict then that is a different story...Lady pulled from dessert display at local casino. The story reads...A lady was rescued after falling into the dessert bar at a Vegas buffet. Innocent bystanders said it appreared that she dived head first into the cheesecake display. Chocolate cake, cheesecake and assorted cookies were seen flying about the room. As officers tried to remove the woman from the dessert station, she pelted them with chocolate covered strawberries. The lady was finally arrested without further incident when she fell unconcious into a large bowl of chocolate pudding. When this reporter went to the jail to speak to the woman about her actions, she was seen sitting in her cell munching on a chocolate chip cookie. When asked where she got the cookie, she stated that it had been lodged between her breasts during the melee and the strip search had failed to dislodge it from her breasts.

I LOVE VEGAS!!! When I was working, I came to a conference there at the LVCC every April and had an amazing time. I missed it so much this year. I wanna go back!! The shops there are so good too.
