  • I really feel like quitting

My whole attitude really took a nosedive this afternoon. I'm so tired. My house is a mess. I want some ice cream. My head aches. I feel like I'll never get my energy back. I can't stop complaining. I can't keep up with the baby. Aaaaggghh.

Atkins wasn't hard the first time. I was addicted to carbs, but it was so easy to just drop it all and make the change. By the third day, I was raring to go. And I didn't cheat for eight months. Now I can't seem to get it together and feel normal.

Sorry to be the new, whiny girl. Thanks for listening. I really hope I can make it through this.

Hey, I feel the same way at some point every single day. And I don't even have the actual proof that I can do it like you do with your 8 months of consistency but I'm gonna change that, so I'm sure you can stick with it! Besides, this board is for all of us to whine from time to time and get some goober like me to reel whining people like you back in .

So how much did you lose the first time around? Did you exercise? What happened to your progress and what kind of damage are you trying to undo?

I love whiny! I have kids!

You are feeling exactly the way you should feel. Absolutely awful. Just think about how, when, in a few days, you're feeling on top of the world, you'll look back and will be glad for how great you're feeling!

I totally agree with Cleo, if you're whiny, you know you're doing it right!

Be strong, you'll get through the tough part!

Thanks much. This sad, overwhelmed feeling just hit me out of the blue, after a fairly good day.

I lost 30 pounds the first time (with little exercise), got pregnant, had a very complicated pregnancy (which included bedrest), and gained 65 pounds soothing myself with Ho-Hos.

Then I encountered the "nursing melts the pounds off you" myth, and gained even more weight! I've lost 25 pounds starving myself, but I've got 40 to go, and that's being generous and forgiving.

Love whiny?! Oh, so you're one of those! (I have no idea what that means).

Thanks so much for the words of support, truly. I just feel like a total loser (not in the good way) for not being able to make it through a day without eating some sugar-free candy, and for not having the same experience this time around. Intellectually, I understand my body has been through a lot and I just have to muddle through. Emotionally, I just want to curl up with a chocolate-dipped banana.

Thanks again. I definitely need to keep posting here.

edit: Sheshy - thanks, I will try to keep on keeping on.

Tracy, Your going to do fine, You really will. This is just your body trying to rebel and it happens to most of us. Concentrate on the foods you really like, make something Atkins legal but delcious, like a pumpkin mouse or Clouds or cheese crisps.
Keep posting. We can do this

Re: I really feel like quitting

I agree with the others. It is hard somedays. But it is worth every miserable thought you have in your head about quitting. Just don't quit. Keep going no matter how awful you feel. Take that negative energy and use it to go walking or kickboxing or dancing or whatever...just don't quit. It does get easier as time goes by. And when you start to see the inches melt away and the pounds go down and the energy soar, you'll be so happy you didn't quit.

Re: I really feel like quitting

Thanks so much everyone. I had my meltdown and I feel much better.

I think if I hadn't posted, though, I would have cracked and done something stupid. So glad I made it through another day. Thanks again.

Good for you! I am SO knowing what you are whining about....I loooove to whine to my hubby about how snack deprived I am some days. haha But like he says....my whines are fading into the background and are being replaced with whoops of joy every pound that comes off the scale. The results will motivate you, and even one little cheat can undo all your hard work. Its so worth it to just keep going and eat something allowed thats snackable! Good Luck! You are on the right track!

Congratulations. You made the right choice. Now that you know you are going to have days like this, make some plans as to what you will do next time so that it isn't as hard on you.

{{{Tracy}}} I'm so glad you're feeling better. We all have meltdowns! I've had a couple of very stressful days this week and wannabethin will tell you I've been whiny (she's very good to me). *lol*

I sound like a bad country song: my husband's out of town, I have pink eye, and my Pamprin's runnin' low.

At times like these you need a good friend to talk to, someone to PM with your issues and someone to make you smile or to let you know everything will be o-k! So, either let's get together and sing the blues, or let's do this the right way to get rid of those feelings of being uber-yukked-out ----->

If you ever need to smack life upside the head with your rolled up newspaper, one of us will always be there with the head... but, preferably, with the newspaper.

Thanks, Cleo! Sorry to hear about the pink eye! Eesh, I hate that. It's never the shade of pink that looks lovely with that grey sweater or matches your nail polish.

I feel fairly serene today. Hallelujah! But I will keep your PM button in a glass container that says "Break in case of emergency." Thanks for being there.

dreamof145: I really wasn't prepared to feel like this because Atkins was sooo simple the last time. Maybe it's because I was in the dark a little bit. Like when I had my first child...I didn't read any books and didn't take any classes. I just didn't want to know. Ignorance is bliss! Now I know too much about sugar meanies.

                          Thanks again!
