I found some supercheap on eBay, so I bought them. I tested today and it came out pretty dark. Does this mean I have superfatburning powers? I'm a little confused now as to what information the sticks are supposed to impart. Is it merely a way to find out if you're producing ketones? If so, that's kinda disappointing.

The sticks have several purposes:
1. They change color to indicate your body is metabolizing fat
2. You have to admit, they are fun to pee on.
Now I'm told the color doesn't matter, because any shade, and you're in ketosis. Some say that the darker the color, the more dehydrated you are. Some also say that the keto sticks don't really show whether you are burning stored fat or fat you ate with your meal.
Still, I like to think of them as very pretty pee sticks that could double for swizzlesticks at parties if nothing else.

nope not true at all color only tells you how concentrated the excess ketones whick are unburned fat to ATP byproducts are in your blood stream at the time that urine was created. Check the FAQ for the details but if you drink (numbers are made up for efect)1000 ounces of water 10,000 ketones will be a much liter shade on your stick coming out at 10 ketones per ounce then if you only drank 10 ounces of water 1000 keti=ones per ounce which is why folk say if they are dark you are dehydrated.
Another factor in the concentration is the amount of those bundled up as ketone waste products ebing burned up by the tisses not engaged on vigorous exercise other then the heart ( seems ketones are the primary fuel of heat muscles). so if you lay in bed eatting 20 pounds of butter a day you wil have much darker strips then if you got up and exercised and ate the correct for your body doing Atkins amounts of fats.
What you use them for is jsut like the EPT stuff you want to know if you is or you aint so you test and hope you had an excess amount at the time that pee was created so you can do the whoopeeeee dance in the potty area cause you are in ketosis. of course a much cheaper way would be to learn the physical symptoms of ketosis and then when you experienced them like increased thirst, loss of appetite, change in the smeel of your pee sweat or breath amoung others you'd know you were in ketosis without the stix.

Thanks for all of the neato info! I don't feel dehydrated; I've had about 75 ounces of water today and I'm still working on it. And I'm certainly not laying around eating butter. That's an awesome visual, though! I guess it's good to know I'm in ketosis. Thanks again to both of you!32 y.o. chick

The onne problem with them I had is they get old quick and stop working. Dont get worried if all the sudden you are doing everything right and they aren't changing. Use them to teach you about how your body feels in ketosis.~Lauren~

Don't become to dependent on them, the best way to tell how this WOE is working is how your feeling and how those tight pants are fitting
