im currently in the middle of my university exams and was working on my research paper for east asian societies (im an asian studies/japanese major). all of my other induction 'flu symptoms have subsided with the exception of extreme brain fog. i find it so difficult to concentrate! its like i only have a finite concentration span - about an hour or two, tops. im on day 10 of induction and... i broke
i had a mango and automatically felt guilty so i slug back a litre of water and went for a 30 minute bike ride. this morning when i woke up i weighed myself and realised i had lost 6 kilos (13.2 pounds) since starting this WOE. i feel awesome, thats extremely motivating, but i feel pretty crappy about breaking. it was so weird though, it wasnt like i really felt like the mango, i just needed something to get me out of the brain fog. i plugged my figures into fitday and even with the mango i only consumed 1037 calories yesterday (my basal metabolic rate is about 2100 calories). i hope this doesnt stall me. im trying to take some comfort in that it was a piece of fruit and not a coca cola or mashed potatos (my vices). ive learnt from this, absolutely. i wont cave again... i dont care what i eat, its just not worth the guilt afterwards. im hoping it wont take too long to get me back into ketosis... cross your fingers for me, ladies and gentlemen. i need your support.

Re: i need to get this out...
{{{stella}}} I understand your frustration, but so long as you didn't take that opportunity to down 3 pizzas and a box of fig cookies, I'd have to say the mango was not only tame, but a nutritious item.
The question is, did it cause cravings?
You're doing fine, sweetheart! No reason to kick yourself. I was terrified you went all out and molested Little Debbie. I'm relieved you only partook in a mango.
Having protein will get you out of a brain fog. A hard-boiled egg served as devilled goes a long way for brain food! Hang in there, sweetie pea!

cleo, youre so awesome. im in australia so i have no idea who little debbie is (or rather, what they are) or fig cookies (are they made out of figs?). they sound evil, anyway. there was no molesting hereOriginally posted by cleochatra{{{stella}}} I understand your frustration, but so long as you didn't take that opportunity to down 3 pizzas and a box of fig cookies, I'd have to say the mango was not only tame, but a nutritious item.

(man, i almost spat out water all over the keyboard from laughing so hard when i read that). i suppose the mango is pretty tame but dammit, i felt like such a quitter afterwards. i felt fatter almost instantly. after meat and cheese and eggs and veg, it was so sickly sweet, i felt pretty rank afterwards.
nonetheless, i will press on. protein will get rid of the brain fog? awesome. ill cook up a giant batch of chicken tonight. i was completely stressing out over how im going to make it through my exams next week when my concentration span is on a par with my goldfish. i must must must must must keep going. no more fatty boomba here. and no more mangos!
i havent had any cravings yet... and even if they do, they will be squashed quick smart. i cant afford to drop the ball when my success thus far is pretty outstanding. (well, at least i think so)
youre the best, thanks for your support.

Re: i need to get this out...
thanks lynne. im trying to let it go, i promiseOriginally posted by DesertthornStella, I absolutely agree with Cleo, the mango was a mild cheat to say the least. Brush it off and don't worry about it any more.
Are you counting carbs or calories cause on indduction we don't could calories at all.
Lynne
im counting carbs and not counting calories but since one mango has 35 g of carbs in it, and i totally blew my day out of the water, i went by the next best thing... calories. its not ideal in terms of measurements (as atkins says not to focus on calories) but since my carbs were waaaaay up there (almost two days allowance in one go!
) i figured it was the only way to guage how much damage i did yesterday.
i figure... i used to be getting upwards of 200 g of carbs a day, so even the blow out yesterday is still 4 times better than what i usually do. heres hoping eh?
