  • A New Beginning

    Hello,

I'm Nectar and I was very successful on Atkins around this time last year. After going on vacation last year, I reverted to my old eating habits and eventually put on some of the weight I lost.

I restarted Atkins on October 1st. I've joined a gym and work out at least three days a week, (at least 30 minutes of cardio/and weight training.) I've noticed that my weight loss is extremely slow this time around. I've been on induction for 4 weeks and I'm ready for OWL. I will say that I have a vice. Coffee. I quit smoking three months ago, yet can't seem to give up one cup of coffee a day. Maybe that's the reason my weight loss is so slow. Any advice would be appreciated and help me stay motivated.

Hi Nectar and welcome to ADBB!

So, you've lost 11 pounds in a little over a month, that's great! Congrats!

I'm not sure how much you lost in 4 weeks last time, but I think you're doing great. If it is slower this time, it could be the increase in muscle to fat from your workouts at the gym!

Welcome Nectar and what Sheshy said about why it's slower this time. Make sure to take your measurements because you could be losing tons of inches.

Hi, nectar and welcome! Congratulations on your 11 pounds so far! Sometimes the second time around the fat cells don't want to let go. As women, our survival had always been indicated by the amount of fat we could store such that we could carry a pregnancy through a famine. Eveerytime we yo-yo diiet, our fat cells become more and more stubborn.

Caffeine does stall some; others is creates blood sugar instability, and can cause cravings.

WAY TO GO on quitting smoking! I'm so proud of you!

It does go slower the second time, expecially adding the weight training. BUT you will not be sorry cause when you reach goal, you'll be buff also.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. I'm motivated to keep it up and maybe get involved in a challenge. That should also boost my morale.
