  • When do you exercise?

    Where is everybody today? It seems awfully quiet.
    So, I thought I would ask the question that is most difficult for me. When does everyone exercise? In other words, how do you fit it all in? And what type of exercise works best for you?
    149.8/no weigh/ 119



    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
    what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
    rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
    rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
    rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
    rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

    I have to exercise at night during the week and usually in the afternoons on the weekends. It is really hard to fit it all in but I have been making exercise a priority in my life.

    To use Nike's phrase.....Just Do It !!! : )

      I exercise at night. I like to walk on the treadmill at a high incline to burn more fat. It's tough but watching tv makes it much better.

        Shannon,

        I tried exercising in the morning, but I got sick that way so I exercise in the late afternoon or evening (usually while dinner is in the oven).

          I tried getting up at 5:00 to work out but that was tough. Half the time I wouldn't wake up. I go to the gym a couple of times a week right after work. The days I don't go to the gym I do a video as soon as I get home from work, usually while dinner is cooking. That's the best time for me. It frees up the evening for other things. On the weekends I take my doggie out for longer walks, sometimes go to the gym or do a video (but usually cleaning a 3 storey house is enough exercise - lol). I find that cementing it in my mind helps a lot. i.e. To do list: put casserole in oven, exercise, bathe cat, etc. I make sure my gym bag is packed the night before so there's no excuse like leaving my workout pants behind or anything. Some days when I'm too busy I either go for a walk at lunch, or take a longer route home from work so I can at least get 30 minutes of something in.

            In The Evening Except On Weekends

            Second time arounder - started Atkins 2/2001 @440 lbs LOST 150 GAINED 110
            Restarted 6/1/05 for the FINAL TIME @ 431 lbs Lost 80 Atkins
            Came back 10/1 after losing 109 additional on Weight Watchers
            Weight on 9/30/07 239.8! Lowest EVER!
            If we aren't supposed to eat animals, why are they made of meat?

              During the week...I start exercising around 5:45 or 6:00 AM. My boyfriend and I carpool to save gas. He has to be at work by 5:30 AM and I don't start until 7:00 AM...So I have time to kill.


              Weekends...Probably the afternoon...I just started exercising this week. LOL

                I go to the gym 3 nights a week and then occasionally on a Sunday aswell. I also do RPM / spinning most Friday mornings.

                I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

                  I put it off as late as I can - then fit it in at the last possible 1/2 hr. Bad, I know. I tried exercising in the mornings but decided to stop when I hurt myself from not really being awake enough to balance.

                      You guys are so good! Especially, those first thing in the morning exercisers. I have tried and tried and I feel so sluggish when I run and yes, clumsy. I much prefer running in the evening, but gee whiz, the problem there is finding the time! I am getting there, though. I did go out Tuesday, but skipped last night. I was sore.
                      So, i guess I should go today, but I am traveling out of town for the week-end, so I should have gone this morning. BUT I was packing. Sigh. Excuses, excuses, any of this sound familiar?
