  • Question on Veggies and Protein

This may be a strange question but I would like to know if I am suppose to eat protien every time I eat some carbs in the form of veggies. Sometimes, especially when I am at work at night, all I will want is some cucumber or maybe a piece or two of celery without anything else. Is this all right or am I gonna mess myself up doing this? I thought that I had read somewhere (I cannot remember where ) that I was suppose to eat protein with all veggies. Hope someone knows the answer to this one. Thanks a lot.

Re: Question on Veggies and Protein

Ideally you'd eat some fat and protein with your carb intake to help slow absorbtion, therefore impact on blood sugar.

Celery and cucumber both have a minimal carb count (obviously depending on how much you eat). If it works for you, work it. If you experience trouble - i.e. cravings, crashes, etc - then eat them with some fat and protein.

yep about the blood sugar stability. Dr Atkinsa in chapter 14 of DANDR is very specific about eating some fat with your new carbs.

I often spread some cream cheese or pate along the groove of celery, or chop it up and mix some mayo in with it.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
