  • No kitchen but restarting anyway....

    Hello, again!!!

I tried to re-start here but just when I got my pantry stocke up, I had a flood in my kitchen!!

What with my new boss being a butt-head and not allowing time off to dry it out and get the repairs done, and my DH going to New Orleans for a couple weeks, I am still struggling with all my pantry stuff (literally) in storage bins in my living room. So is my bookshelf, china closet, table and chairs, rolltop desk, stuff from the cabinets (which were damaged or moved into the garage)....You get the picture. We're doing a lot of the restoration ourselves to save the $500 deductible, so it's a lot of long hours, mess, and frustration when it comes to eating.

Long story short, I went from 152 to 162 since then and felt really crummy. The vinyl guys messed up and have to redo it this Tuesday. Last week I decided I could not wait any longer to feel better, so I started up again Friday, and this morning checked the Ketostix and they were PINK! Yes, I do feel better, still 162.5 though. And Saturday I got a huge migraine, got rid of it, got another, and generally felt like the worst case of carb withdrawal EVER. I knew not to start Induction knowing my tendency to migraine, so I'm really thrilled I'm into ketosis already.

I also have been on doxycyclene for a sinus infection, probably brought on by the tearing up of the floors and all the yukky dust. So I've been eating Carb Monitor yogurt to re-florate my guts.

Wish me luck, y'all. This will be the first holiday in my 2.5 yrs of low-carbing that I have "had to" stick to this WOE. and I'm whining about it already. But the last few months of no money for food and now THIS have forced the issue!! I'll be checking recipes etc. and hopefully quitting my bad habit of using various life situations as a reason to eat badly. I now have enough rescources to buy meat, since I'm working again. I also am getting physical therapy as of last week, so I can KEEP working! And that's another reason to start an excercise program again. They have me doing PT in the water, so when I find the time in the evenings I'll have to start doing some REAL excersise.

Sorry to be so wordy... shutting up now....

Welcome back again. Glad you got control again.

those water exercises can be just as beneficial other then osteoporatic preventive as land stuff.

keep talking. Flooded the kitchen wow now that is a new reason to quit atkins.
so who you doing the cooking now? this might be good info to gather with some input from our hurricane folk too for those about to get winter snow strom power outages and stuff.

Oh, I still have the microwave plugged in. We've been eating horrid convenience foods like frozen burritos, pizzas, breaded fish and chicken, cold cereal instead of eggs. Not much veggies since the sink had to be recaulked but I did buy those baby carrots and dipped them in Ranch dressing. Sandwiches with lunchmeat or PB. Then, for good measure, since I'm an "all-or-nothing" kind of girl with no brain to figure that this is stupid, Swiss rolls, Cadbury bars, bakery stuff... You'd think I would enjoy this since I'm a BIG carb addict, but it got old in a few days when the blood sugar got out of whack. I'm an idiot.

NO, I'm an addict. Hello, my name is Christine and I'm a carboholic. I know I always will be, so I will have to find what is causing the insane cravings and cut them out of my life forever!!! Please HELP!!!

And thanks, 2big, for checking up on me the other day, just after I started. My DD badly wanted me to "delay" the start of this WOE til Tuesday, and without your 2 cents worth I might have had those chips at the Mexican restaurant she took us to yesterday!!! Also didn't want to go thru what went on Saturday......again.....

The ketosis thing this morning was WORTH it!! I will STICK to plan now or you all have my permission to tar and feather me!!!

Congratulations on getting back on track in spite of all that was/is happening around you
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
