  • It IS harder the 2nd time around..

    When I originally did Atkins, I immediately "felt" thinner. Like in my stomach and it continued with that feeling. I don't feel like that this time around..well I did the first 2 days but now I feel bloated. I think I have been letting myself get carried away with the salt. So I am cutting that out today.

    What about mayo guys? I think the kind is Kraft Real Mayo or something. I love mayo and like to dip my chicken in some. I probably could have 6 tablespoons a day, is that bad? I forget what we should limit to.

    I think most people have about 2 Tablespoons at one time. I don't think I have seen any laid-down limit anywhere.
    Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Dr Atkins didn't limit your fat uintake cause he flet we would limit it ourselves eating only enough food to satisfy our hunger at the time we are eating.

      Didi you know fats will signal the brain coming out of the stomach to slow it down and close it back up for longer digestion helping you feel fuller longer amd they in the mouth stimulate the pleasure zones in the brain making you happier?

      Use as much fat as you need to satisfy your hunger each meal each day along with your proteins and carbs. you will find as you progress on Atkins the amount of food you need will vary greatly from a few bites to a full meal.

        I did know that about the fats (the fuller part, not so much the happier part-great tidbit!), but I thought that eating maybe 20 tablespoons of it a day is not the kind of fat we should be eating so much of? Very interesting. Thanks for the post!

          We learn alot from 2Big around here! That actually makes sense because when I feel depressed and need something to eat I choose something high in fat like a LC cheeseburger or fried cheese and pepperoni.....makes sense!

          Stick with it! You'll feel slimmer in another 10 days I'm sure.

            if it takes 20 tablespoons a day to satisfy your hunger then you eat it. i doubt very much with your ketosis that deep you will be needing to eat it to satisfy hunger.

              Good question Missy - and you are right to wonder how much mayo is too much.

              Many mayo's do have some carbs in them (maybe as much as one carb per 2 T) so that should limit us to a certain extent as well, as we are supposed to have over half of our carbs from our veggies.

                Read your DANDR and see how Dr Atkins talks about how satisfying fats are, he calls an ounce of cream cheese luxurious even. Everybody has a different metabolism and some folk will need a higher fat intake as discussed in chapter 20 but the majority of folk are going to limit their own fat and protein intake IF they are following Dr Atkins instructions and only eating enough food each time they eat to satisfy hunger

                Because of the relationship of dietary fats to ketosis if you eat that much fat today your body will deepen your ketosis and increae the appetite suppression shutting off your appetite. then you will be using the 6 hr rule which is a few bites your foods, carbs fats and proteins which will make it very very hard to eat 20 tablespoons of mayo that day.

                  Thank you very much for the responses. Yeah 20 Tablespoons was just an example, obviously I don't eat that much, and I've already noticed a huge difference in my appetite.

                    I don't know for sure, but my guess is that four cups of mayo a day is too much...........
