Re: 5 mins of Fame ShannonK
Very good question! I think that I would make the Atkins program a little more cut and dry or tailered to my own body. I think that some things work well for me and some do not. In other words, I seem to be able to handle a few peanuts every once in awhile with no problems. Yet, some things really throw me off. Also, I have a big cheat meal, I have to go right back to induction or I am in a long stall. I would love to know what I can have. Yes, Shannon, you can eat this, this or that, but you can never, ever eat this other thing.
The other thing I would change is the pasta issue. I am still waiting for the Atkins goes Italian version of Atkins. I do like my spaghetti squash, but sometimes....
Well, you know.

Re: 5 mins of Fame ShannonK
I originally started Atkins in October of 2003. In three months, I was a few pounds from my goal and I felt terrific. It seemed so easy then. Of course, over the Christmas Holidays, we went out with friends and I decided that I could handle a few cheats here and there. Most of you know how that turns out. Anyway, here I am almost two years later, second (twentieth) time around.
The real factor for wanting to lost the weight is that I began snoring terribly. So badly! I was keeping my husband awake and during the night I always ended up in the guest room. After a few months of this, one night I realized it would just be so easy to go straight to the guest room. My husband was tired and sleepy and needed to rest. Let me tell you, when I turned the lights out that first night of actually "going to bed alone" I was shocked. I just couldn't believe that in my mid thirties, I was already not sharing a room with my husband. I looked at my robe hanging on the door, my book and lamp on the bedside table and cried all night. Literally, all night long. That was a real eye opener for me. It wasn't long before I found Atkins and here I am. By the way, snoring (for me at least) is very, very weight related. I stopped snoring as soon as I lost the first ten pounds.
My favorite part of Atkins, hands down, is the lack of hunger. People complain that there are not options to eat in restaurants, etc... There are NO real options if you are calorie counting. What can you order? A side salad, hold the dressing and the cheese and the meat. No, thanks. I love my choices. Anyone who has calorie counted knows the hunger I am talking about, too. I have never been able to lose more that five pounds that way without have a complete binge.
My favorite low carb meal is steak with peppers and onions. I use this meal as a trigger placeholder. If hubby is going to be gone and I know that I am going to get pizza for the kids, I grab a steak ( a good one) and cook it up.
Yummy!
Good questions. It feels very good to open up a little to my pals here. Thanks!149.8/no weigh/ 119

Wow...I felt that...
Here are my questions..
*What part of your body do you like the most?
*What part of your body do you least like the most?
And what are you doing about it?
...I like this game...

Re: 5 mins of Fame ShannonK
I like this game, too.
I think that I like my b**bs the best. They are a pretty good size and ever time I lose a few pounds, they are even better. No complaints there!
I absolutely hate my thighs, but lately I have really not liked the looks of my face. I can tell that I am getting older. It is really starting to show. I would rather it look like an older skinnie minnie that an older fat person. Anyway, what am I doing about it. Ah, that is a tough one. I guess that I am not doing anything about it other than this WOE. I know that exercising would help me, but I am having trouble there. Sometimes, I think that I need to take it one step at a time. For example, eat right, then lose some weight, then exercise, but I know, know, know that they go hand in hand. sigh.
Sirine, your numbers are awesome! Are you really two pounds from goal? That is so incredible. Good for you!149.8/no weigh/ 119

Thanks Shannon..Yea, it's been 2 whole years of hard work..*sigh* ...I am 2LBS away from my mini goal...I really want to get to 115...I think that would be ideal for my body!
As for you not liking the looks of your face ...If you don't already, use toner 2x a day and wipe upwards..also moisturize the sh*t (i couldn't think of another word) out of it..you will notice a difference quickly...

Re: 5 mins of Fame ShannonK
My favorite color right now is blue. My house is predominately shades of brown, taupe, gray, you get the idea. LOL. We have been working to add some color, though, mostly blue. We lived in Hawaii for a few years so we collected a lot of souveniers. So, blue is going very well with all that.
My wardrobe is a different story. I wear almost exclusively black and white. I also have a couple pairs of pants in gray, and brown. I am an extremely conservative dresser. When this weight comes off, I want to buy some cute colorful clothes!
I wear mostly Ralph Lauren Blue. My husband is very sensitive to scents and he likes that one. I am a one scent kind of gal. I only change every five years or so when the bottle runs out. Is that bad?
If I could go anywhere in the world... Well, that is easy. I love New York City. I have only been there twice for short visits and I just loved it. I would love to go back and spend a month or so. Finelly, I would love to have you come along. We could do the town up quite grandly.
My favorite book of all time? Hmm, that is difficult. I love, love, love to read. Maybe A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I really liked that one. Typically, though I like Dean Koontz and James Patterson and the like.
I so like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Am I dating myself now?
I like every song ever written and know them all by heart. To a lesser degree, I enjoy U2, Billy Joel, and lately Diana Krall. We have an overall wide taste in music with few exceptions. Which leads me to my favorite Dixie Chick?
Huh?? Um, Posh Spice? You get the idea?
Siamese Cats? Okay, well I did have a siamese cat growing up and she was the best until she got in a fight with a car. Fiesty, bold little creatures they are. Now, I am a bit of a german shepherd person.
My name would be Isabella or something glamorous like that. I would have to give that one more thought!
You ask some tough questions, Fin.
Lastly, who inspires me? I would have to start with my Mother who has overcome quite a lot in her life. Other than that, to be honest and at the risk of sounding cheesy, you guys do. What would I do without you? Finelly, Terry, and Cleo, etc... Your weight loss and your exercising and your water drinking! You guys are the best!!!149.8/no weigh/ 119

I have no idea how to compete with that level of questioning.......
lol
Ill have to think a little harder on mine now!

Re: 5 mins of Fame ShannonK
That is a tough one. I had to think on that one awhile. I think it would be abstract and I think that Picasso would paint it. It would have sharp lines in oranges and reds and maybe a little bit of blue. Hmm, where are the psychologists out there?

Re: 5 mins of Fame ShannonK
I'm not a psychologist, but I play one on t.v.
(ok, I don't do that, either, but I COULD, if I WANTED to....)
Anyway, my degree in Political Science is just as good as one in psychology, and I say that your response to Cleo's question indicates that you are a total loser. 6.5 lbs of loser, in fact.Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05
