  • Ways to stay on track during the weekend

Let's post all of our tried and true tips for making it through the weekend without cheating.

    Mine are:

    1. Prepare a treat food to eat each day. For me, it might be chocolate mousse or a really scrumptious cheese. Something to look forward to each evening of the weekend so that if I'm tempted during the day, I can promise myself if I resist, there's a reward later.

    2. Keep moving. Park further away than usual at the shopping center. Take a walk in the middle of the day. Start the morning with a workout.

    3. Eat before you go out. Have something high in fat and protein, because you will be less likely to be tempted and cave when you see the See's Candy Store.

Currently my sure fire way to make it work is to.....................

      KEEP BUSY

      KEEP BUSY

      KEEP BUSY

      KEEP BUSY

      KEEP BUSY !!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone is different...................Planning a special treat for me does not work. I do have to stay away from sweets in general. Including allowed sweeteners. This summer when I came back I tried to do the program and include splenda but for me totally eliminating it from my diet is the way to go. (I am planning on a legal cheesecake at Thanksgiving and there WONT be leftovers of it to tempt me with, just enough to enjoy that afternoon) It does help me though to have foods that I really like daily........... caesar salad items, crab meat, a freshly baked chicken, summer and spaghetti squashes, swiss cheese are all staples for me. Keeping cream cheese in the house is not a good thing for me.

I use a lot of the tricks that you mentioned (planned treats, for example). I also try to keep out of the house a lot of the time. I get up on Saturday, eat breakfast, take the kids to gymnastics and run errands, and by the time we're home, it's time to work out and then to have a legal lunch. There's literally no time to cheat! Also, although I weigh every day, I only record Sunday, so that inspires me to keep on track.

Re: Ways to stay on track during the weekend

I find weekends for me are a complete change of pace from the headlong run of my weekday schedule. Saturdays are when I plan what I want to do for food for the next week and some recreation, and sundays are all cooking and getting ready for the week. I find if i don't plan and package ahead I am easily derailed, and i'm so tired of getting derailed! I'm still able to tolerate baking for my son's lunch snacks and not licking out the bowl! Making kraft dinner on the otherhand...well that is still in the realm of too hard. i have a bread machine that makes 1 loaf a week for the kid's sandwhiches, and a crockpot that gets used twice a week. We just got a deep fryer since my husband has always wanted one. That'll be interesting to see if i can cook any legal foods in it. i've never had experience with a deep fryer before...

I find on the weekends it's much easier for me to keep on track as the kitchen is right there full of legal foods and i can graze little bits during the day. I try to have a planned treat per day on the weekend, and one or two more spread throughout the week. This time around i'm trying all sorts of different recipes and spice mixes as i got bored and found myself deep into appetite fatigue back in june. i also fell out of the habit of planning ahead and that shot me in the feet too.

Re: Ways to stay on track during the weekend

During the week it's easier for me as I am very busy with work, bowling leagues, errands and a second job...which I finally did cut down to just Saturdays form 7 am until 3 pm. I need more time for me and house things.

At home like Terry, I try to keep busy. It can be a project around the house, reading, watching something I like on TV and of course getting on the computer (when it's working).

I also have plenty of legal food in the house and I started making my Diet Rite Jello again which helps when I want a little 'extra". When I did cheat, it would be on a Sunday, and it was when I let myself get aggravated or frustrated about one thing or another. Now when I get home from the gym, I dive right in to my cooking for the week, cleaning or catching up with friends on the phone.

I am a bazillion percent commited to staying on track and getting that darn scale to move...weekdays AND weekends

Re: Ways to stay on track during the weekend

                For me, weekends are chaos.

I totally agree with weighing on the weekend or on Mondays, and this is what I do.

Making Saturday night "Breakfast for dinner" night always is a hit at my house.

Spending Friday night watching movies or playing games with my family is a way to have a great time without it revolving around food.
