  • STA differences??

I'd love to know what you've found to be different this 2nd time around.....I've noticed that my ketosis is deeper. Believe it or not, the first time around I lost steadily, but never got past a "trace" in ketosis.......now, I'm about twice as "deep" -- I like that psychological boost of seeing the purple!

Also this time I'm definitely wiser about salt and water retention! My weakness is reaching for the pepperoni when I want to munch -- I'm pretty sure the salt is causing me to retain fluid -- so I'm increasing my water consumption to "flush" myself out.......man I love pepperoni - I wish it wasn't so salty.

    Re: STA differences??

Usually, I find that I have selective amnesia. My induction flu is always something I know is going to hit, but when I get sick I'm like, "Oh GAWSH. I feel like crap. I must have a virus"... *LOL*

I think we tend to be dehyrdrated when we're not following Atkins, which only makes the water retention a right bugger when we start giving ourselves what we need again! It'll go away soonieoonie! Welcome home Heidigirl!

Your ketosis isn't deeper. It's not something in which there are degrees. You're either in it, and burning fat for energy, or not. The deeper the color on the ketostick, the less fluid you have in your system, that's all.

But the second time around IS different. S ome of us find we lose slower. Some find we lose the same, but inches or slower. Or the pounds come off more slowly, but the inches faster.

We are, by this second or 55th time around, more knowledgeable about our bodies and what to expect. So we aren't nervous about preparing foods and figuring out menus, and we are more laid back about how the scale goes. We have more confidence, I think!

I'm glad it's going well for you! Keep it up!

          Re: STA differences??

I've definitely found a slower loss this time around...that is why I always failed at other diets because the results were so slow...thankfully I KNOW this WOL works, and that I actually do enjoy my foods here otherwise I would have totally given up.

Great post. I could sit and knaw on a stick of pepperoni without a thought or concern. Same goes for salami, so I just don't have them in the house.

Thanks Finelly for that ketosis clarification -- I can't believe I never came across the "facts" behind the ketostix readout my first time around........thanks
