Question about getting pregnant

I have a question I've been meaning to ask, my husband and I are thinking about trying to have another baby but I would like to lose more weight hopefully before that occurs. My thinking is that I'll stick to induction then OWL and if there are any surprises I can immediately switch to maintenance. Any thoughts? I'm thinking there might be others who can relate to this concern.

we have has several oops on ADBB check out the preggo forum we just added to babys in the last week both their mommies were doing Atkins OWl when the surprises occurred. they switched. there is a great article on the Atkins.com site written by a staff dietician who what eating Atkins and preggo with twins the link in in the preggo board.

I thought I had accidentally got pregnant this week and so moved off OWL immediately.
It turned out I wasn't which will enable me to stick to the original plan (same as yours) of losing weight first and then switching to maintenance when I conceive.
Some people say to switch to maintenance when you are trying but I really need to lose as much as possible so will only switch when I find out I am PG (I'll make sure I test straight away).
I'd be interested to see what you decide to do.

you will be fine switching once you deiscover you are just check out DAWN who with hubby having had a vasectomy knew she wasn't prego until late. Many lack of vits and mineral defects occur before you even know you are preggo like spinabifida so make sute you are getting your prenatal vits and any supplements your doc says you need

Thanks 2big - I'm glad you agree that it will be OK as long as we switch immediately when we find out (and that we test straight away). Otherwise, I would have had to reluctantly switched to another weight loss plan when trying to conceive.

Thanks for the info, I feel better now about sticking Atkins full force, then switching hopefully when I become pregnant next year. 2Big4MySize, I found the link to the article you were talking about, but the link didn't work. I also searched Atkins.com and found nothing. I heard that Atkins.com has revamped their website, so I guess the article is gone. I would have loved to have read it!! Maybe 2006 will be a baby year for us Zarabelle!! Good luck!

Wouldn't it be good if we got pregnant at the same time - we could try and make each other stick to maintenance which I know I'll find tough as I ate carbs galore with my first pregnancy!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr don't you hate when they got something great and poof they delete it cause they didn't bother to read and know it was in that section.

It was written by a licensed dietician who worked for Dr Atkins' company was doing Atkins and got prego. She moved to maintenance and posted Atkins maintenance foods that were very preggo healthy and she was eating and warned about a few foods even high carb folk eat and then delivered two healthy twin boys.

I'm aware that medical advice is not given here....I just wanted to know what other Atkins mamas had done and what worked for them. Thanks everyone for their input!

I'm sure my doctor would prefer that I was 20 pounds lighter and on Atkins for 2 weeks until I found out rather than the weight I am now. Saying that, there are still a lot of anti-atkins people in the UK including doctors and gym instructors (I have encountered both). x

seriously go check out put pregnancy forum. Amenia just posted pics of Alexander Carter her surprize I'm preggo kid born last week, Vharper poster pics of her darling born the 15th i think and we are all waiting for Dawn to come back and show us how cool her surpirze bleesing 2 month old Bethany is now.
