Okay, I admit it. I don't measure -- never have. I just tend to go by the scale and my waist size.
A few weeks ago I picked up a pair of slacks that I knew were probably too small, and I couldn't button them -- not even close.
This morning, while looking for something to wear, I picked them up again, and thought I'd check just to see if any progress had been made. I was able to button them, with almost no trouble! Now, I did decide that they were still a bit too tight to be comfortable for all day wear, but what a change since just a few weeks ago. During that time I think I've only lost about 3, maybe 4, pounds, yet my waist has to be significantly smaller.
It really is true, then, that sometimes you lose inches even when you wouldn't think so according to the scale.
