  • We're having a party at work

We always have a little small party at work on the day that we trim the tree and decorate the office. We sing, decorate, and eat. Last year I played Scrooge and didn't go, just to avoid all the food temptations.

This year I decided that I would participate. When we started in on the food, I manage to find some bits of sausage on toothpicks, some bacon pieces, some small sections of kielbasa, and some melon cubes and halved strawberries. I stayed with the group -- and ate (in very reasonable amounts)! Since lunchtime is just a little over an hour away, I'm going to alter my menu. I brought along salad greens, ham and cheese. I think I'm just going to hold the ham and cheese until Monday, and have the greens with a bit of my Carb Sense dressing.

Participating -- and choosing wisely -- IS better than being a Scrooge!

good for you Chris next yr bring an Atkins friendly for your level dish and know you can be stress free there.

Be careful about your lunch it is the fats and proteins that stablize the carbs and keep you thinking you are fuller longer. if you find in an hr past lunch you are antsy try a bit of your ham and cheese.

    Happy low carbing

Re: We're having a party at work

GREAT POST CHRIS and very appropriate for the season that is bursting with holiday parties to attend.

LOLOL, you know this made me smile...cause before Atkins, I would never have gone to anything that required me to eat in front of people. I was a fat scrooge. But, now, I am usually the one planning the activities and arranging what others are going to bring. I always bring something extra for myself even if I hide it in my car and don't have to use it. If it is a pot-luck, I bring something Atkins friendly and have never had a problem with anyone turning up their noses. After all, we (Atkineers) eat food and food is food. Unless you put a sign on it and say it is an ATKINS DISH, then nobody knows that it is food we smile at instead of food that we cringe at.

I'm glad you had fun at your party and it just goes to show others who are getting nervous about going to Holiday Parties that it can be done. Its all the way you look at it!!

Re: We're having a party at work

Good post, Chris. I have several Christmas parties coming up and I have hesitated to go, but I am going to push through it. Instead of concentrating on what I can't eat, I am going to focus on how good I am looking.

Good for you Chris attending the festivities this year!!

The best way to get thru is to plan! plan! plan!

I usually dont have a problem finding something legal as no matter what the occasion, a veggie tray is most always on the menu. It does help to have a backup plan and bring something to the table that is atkins friendly and rarely does anyone refuse what I bring. Like Becky said food is food and we eat food................good food!

Shannon... good idea..... concentrate on all your success and how great you look!

If I'm feeling very fragile I go for the Scrooge but when I have a plan and I feel strong I will go then choose wisely or bring a plate of cheese and cold cuts.

Good for you being more social this year.
