    Re: Some unexpected health issues

Ohhhh... so now you'll have a semi-colon. I swear, Chris. Most people don't even know how to use one, let alone to have one.

{{{Chris}}} Solid foods are so overrrated. I'll be right over to make you a delicious beef smoothie!

Cleo, we've just got to find what it is in the water, there, that's causing that mental condition of yours! Actually, I've always been very good at using semi-colons; but, I've never had my own, personal one, before!

Okay, everyone. I now need suggestions for low-carb soft foods for when I start coming off the liquids. I know there's a low carb yogurt available, but for the life of me, nothing else comes to mind. Hood does make a low-carb smoothie, as well, but it's pretty hard to find. C'mon, 2Big, you're always full of ideas!

You can always cook and puree/liquidise your veggies and meat if you get tired of scrambled eggs!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Chris, I dont' think it has to be soft. Check with the doctor. My brother was on liquids at first, but graduated directly to solid foods (minus the things he's not allowed anymore, like seeds and popcorn).

Somewhere I do have a shake recipe that's pretty good, though, if you do need that kinda thing for awhile.

Protein shakes were my first thought as I was reading this again tonight. My mother had colon surgery and it wasnt all that long before she was eating solid foods again. I believe it was by the time she was released a week later.

              Re: Some unexpected health issues

Latest update: I got a bit of a reprieve. It turns out that my insurance, except in emergencies, isn't valid in North Carolina, so I can't have the surgery there, after all. My doctor assures me that the medications he gave me will allow me to safely visit with my family for the next two weeks or so, and then I'll return here for the surgery.

I did have a very long phone conversation with that doctor early this evening (I really found a good one, who doesn't mind at all taking lots of time with his patients). I got a lot more information on what I can expect -- basically four or five days in the hospital, and a recuperation period of three to four weeks.

With the vacation time I'm taking now, and then the surgery, I'll be out of work for a total of seven to eight weeks. I called my supervisor tonight to tell him the news, and he said that my health was much more important than work, and to just worry about getting well, and come back when I'm ready. I'm a so blessed that I work for the wonderful organization that I do. Fortunately, I haven't abused my vacation and sick leave, so I have enough to cover the whole period.

So, anyway, Cleo, looks like I'll have a : instead of a ; for a few weeks, yet!

                Re: Some unexpected health issues

Its good to hear that you will be able to help your Mother and not spend that time recovering from your own surgery allowing you to have your procedure after you have had your time with her. You truely are blessed to have the boss you have who makes your health the priority instead of the job.

That must be a relief to you to have it work out this way.

glad you got the reprived for Christmas. Now don't abuse that colon while you are home.

Did your doc give you a schedule of foods liquids to start so you can lay in a supply of broth now before you fo boil up some chickens or better yet have Michel make some while you are gone and freeze them. you know that added love makes them better medication Califlower will be one of your best friends too when you add back foods And creamed soups are easy digested and easy on Atkins too.

Are they going to repopulate your intestinal flora for you with pills or are you going to be eating yogurt so you don't get a yeast infection too?
