poetry is as unique as the individual. I've always been of the mind that EVERYONE is a poet and an artist--it just manifests itself in myriad ways!

Mehatabel, Mehatabel, there's no-one like Mehatabel.
She's like a fiend in female shape - a monster at the cake table!
You may meet her in the by-street, you may see her in the square,
and when a cake's discovered you know Mehatabel's been there!
(with apologies to the ghost of TS Elliot)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: It's time to start practicing saying "no" Poetry slam

Once a jolly crumbcake baked by my crazy aunt
Under the guise of a Christmas treat
And it sang as it baked and waited till it tempted me,
"Who'll come a waltzing Mehatabel with me?"

                Chorus
                Waltzing Mehatebel, Waltzing Mehatebel,
You'll come a' waltzing Mehatebel with me.
And it sang as it baked and waited till it tempted me,
"You'll come a waltzing Mehatebel with me."

Down came my waistline. No thanks to my crazy aunt.
And up it might go again you see.
But it sang as it sat in all its crummy glory,
"You'll come a waltzing Mehatabel with me!!"

                Chorus
                Waltzing Mehatebel, Waltzing Mehatebel,
You'll come a' waltzing Mehatebel with me.
And it sang as it baked and waited till it tempted me,
"You'll come a waltzing Mehatebel with me."

Up came my self preserve mounted on its rationale.
Downed a glass of water as quick as could be.
"You don't want that crumbcake packed on your derriere.
You'll be resembin' Mehatebel you see."

                New Chorus
                Resemblin' Mehatebel! Resemblin' Mehatebel!
I'll be resemblin' Mehatebel you see.
So quickly I walked away from her crummy cake.
No more resemblin' Mehatebel for me!

Up jumped my crazy aunt, sprang into a hissyfit.
"Surely a bit won't hurt," said she.
But I know that it will, and though I love my crazy aunt,
No more resemblin' Mehatebel for me!

                New Chorus
                Resemblin' Mehatebel! Resemblin' Mehatebel!
I'll be resemblin' Mehatebel you see.
So quickly I walked away from her crummy cake.
No more resemblin' Mehatebel for me!

                (Dramatic Finish!)
But I knoooooow that it wiiiiiiiiiiill, and though I love my crazy aunt,
No more resemblin' Mehetebel fooooooor MEEEEEEE!!

This is to be read with a southern accent...
                    Hope it's okay...

Dear ol' Auntie, she do know how to bake
In she enters with a big ol' bite of cake.

"Jest one lil ol' bite, won't do ya no harm"
My mind starts to ring with my "low carb" alarm.

Thinking quick, and remembering my once large bum,
I shake my head no "I'm allergic to crumb"

She moves closer and closer, my protests, she do ignore
I fake a big ol' sneeze, and blow the bite to the floor!

I give a sniffle "Oh, that crumb, but it do get in the air!"
Dear ol' auntie wanders off with "I do declare!"

Re: It's time to start practicing saying "no" Poetry slam

I'll try rhyming quatrains this time.

                          Mahetabel bakes, and bakes all day;
“I do it for my loved ones,” she’s sure to say.
Love like that we really don’t need,
But to our words, she never pays heed.

We try to explain, we really do,
That sugar is bad – even worse than flu!
That crumb cake of hers will make us fat,
With high cholesterol, too. Please understand that.

But here she comes, with that big old cake.
We put on a smile (but it’s just fake).
‘Cause we have no intention of eating that crap.
We’ll never again fall into her sugary trap!
                          -Chris
