Since you were on OWL, if you are still in ketosis, you can pick up where you left off. If you aren't in ketosis, then drop back to Induction for a few days, that is long enough to get back into ketosis, then go to where you left off in OWL.

Is it few days to Induction enough to go back on track?
Even after a two days long binge on 'uncomfortable' high carb food and drinks?

I am determined to do it right this time. The carb ladder has been a bit tricky to me; I learnt from my mistake that DA is perfectly right saying that if Induction is about your body, OWL is totally about your mind, freedom of choice call up responsability and commitment.

Thanks for your suggestion not2late, I just want to make sure to follow the rules this time!

Dr. Atkins wrote that your glycogen stores are usually used up within 2-3 days. So if you are certain you are out of ketosis, get back into it. He also suggested that you might not need to go to induction. Depending on what carb level you were at before you binged, you might even be able to drop your carbs by 5 or back to the level at which you were losing weight.

If you are still in ketosis, then just pick up where you left off. No need to go back to Induction at all. In fact, Dr. Atkins warns us about relying too heavily on Induction to solve our OWL and Pre-Maintenance boo-boos.

OWL is about your body too. During OWL you will learn what foods agree and disagree with your body. That's why the OWL Rules specifically say if the addition of a food has derailed your weight loss and/or re-activated your blood sugar symptoms you are to drop that food from your diet immediately.

When you re-enter OWL, take it one step at a time. Alot of people freak out because they think 5 net carbs of vegetables will immediately stop their weight loss or they freak out because they think adding food to their diet is too difficult (I appreciate the irony in this because our formerly fat selves probably wouldn't have thought twice about eating an extra--or three-- helping of some food). Unless you have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss, you most likely will lose weight eating above 20 net carbs of food daily.

Thanks for your post again not2late!

My first day on induction has been beautiful so far and I actually did not have to cope with craving as thought!!! I will be staying on Induction only for another couple of days just to make sure to keep cravings away and then

When you re-enter OWL, take it one step at a time
I will do it this time. Last time I was so exited about adding in new foods that I messed up the carb ladder and ended up having wine and nuts too early (at least I have learnt already that nuts stall me and make me hungry).

Thank for your support; hope to find you here again while going through my step by step OWL!!

                    Re: From Tomorrow Strict again

                    Good for you.

Visit our OWL forum when you jump back in because we have some very useful stickies threads you can read and you can also post your OWL questions there.

Nuts seem to be the foods that mess up alot of people. For one thing the amount we eat is smallish: 1/2 to 1 ounce of nuts. So portion control is an issue. The other thing is that nuts are calorie dense. While you don't need to count calories on Atkins, those calories do matter. So if you go overboard with the nuts, you might end up eating more calories than your body can handle. And finally, many people have minor food intolerances to nuts and that food intolerance can affect weight loss.

Alcohol is another problem "food" too. Your body will metabolize alcohol before it metabolizes fat and carbs. So it puts your weight loss "on hold", so to speak. What's interesting is that Dr. Atkins removed alcohol from the OWL Rungs in Atkins for Life, the last book he wrote, because people were sacrificing nutritious carbs/calories for alcohol and because alcohol is non-nutritive.

So, we'll see you on the OWL forum in a couple of days.
